Well from what I am seeing, buying an OE set (if ya can find em) is fairly cost prohibitive.

Anybody buy the MC saddlebag rails, and if so your thoughts please.

are you putting on a new set or replacing an old set?
I've been wondering what it would look like if the bags weren't chromed, but instead a flat black or color matched to the bags. Might be interesting. Might not.
Powder coating might be as cheap as chrome. Cheesy

I had a set on the bike of MC ones. No miles. Put a hitch on and couldn't get both to line up with each other. Hitch stayed and I cut the rails up to try to fit but didn't turn out good. So they are mangled and hanging in the garage. Bikes been dropped since then and no harm to the bags, visably.

Matt at Carolina Bike and Trike is making the bag rails.  Cost is about $750 or so.

I like the rail as a tie down spot. They are handy.

Pharmboy tried to buy a set from Carolina Bike and Trike just before Inzane and he was told they were no longer going to make them and had just sold their last set.  Furthermore, I bought a pair from the folks on eBay and they were a disaster.

They must be a bear to make as there is a market for them. I gave about $250.00 for a used set years ago so $750.00 is a stretch.

$750 did seem kind of strong, and I no longer see them on the website so......back to the MC's- seen them around for between 200-300 brand new, anything wrong with them?

Also any hints on where to find new sidecovers, and still be able to afford to retire and not eat catfood?

VRCC classifieds, E-bay, Pinwall's, Valkyrie Bling and more. All good sources of parts for me but it can be a time consuming process. I've stumbled on to a lot of parts but the best advice is to keep looking on a regular almost daily basis and the parts usually turn up.

I been looking for you, if I see any I'll let you know. Got the pipes mounted, nicer sound, No to get down to the rest of the work, bags painted, tires mounted, air filter install, and while I have the tank off, I'll run the wires for the Garmin 550. So much fun!!!!

They are worth what someone is willing to pay.  Most I see go for $6-900.

I had a set I tried to fit to the bike with the hitch on as well.... and I also cut up my rails.  I got tired of looking at them in the garage and disposed of them.  I would like to find a set that works with the hitch.   Funny thing is, I think at some web sites, the MC ones don't have the correct picture shown and it give a false appearance.

Does anyone with a hitch have the saddlebag rails?

I have a hitch, not sure who makes it, with oem rails.
Hard to tell in this pic, but there is about 1/2 inch clearance there.
Never use the hitch but left it on thinking I'd find some cool plug to put in the receiver.  Wink

I just bought a set of the Tsukayu Strong bags and a set of their rails.  I haven't mounted them yet.  I want to see if I like the bags by themselves first.
