Has anyone with Dial-a-jet on there bike had issues with there bike. Not major problems, just seeming to change in performance.  Maybe seem to run perfect one moment and seemed a little off the next.

I had one on my VT750 and loved it. It was actually fun to play with. Depending on the setting I could get good strong pull through all rpms or I could change it and it would pick up at a higher rpm and it felt like a 4-barrel kicking in.

I never had any erratic behavior but it does take a little playing with to find the best setting for your type of riding.

I plan on getting some for the Valk one day.

I'm not saying the Dial-a-jet is the problem, just trying to figure my problem. Here is the deal !! My bike ran great last year.  This year it ran odd, I think we can all agree when a Valk is running good it has a hum to it, pipes or no pipes.  Mine hums then seems to get a slight flutter to the sound, kind of an off sound, not a miss sound. I have changed every rubber piece on the bike. cleaned the tank and changed the filter. I added an in-line filter which was suggested on a thread to have plenty of flow. Didn't clean the jets, I replaced them. I tested for vacuum leaks also the petcock diaphragm, cleaned and recharged the K&N air filter. Checked the coils and plug wires. I synced the carbs about five different times.  The thing is it is not consistent pattern, its there and its not there. I may take off and it will run fine, then I could stop for a red light and the flutter appears, then the next light it may disappear. I thought temp. maybe a factor but it may do it hot or cold. For me this is a real hair puller .  The thing is if you didn't own a Valk you may never notice it. The reason I asked about the Dial-a-jet is when I played around it using Dag's idea and changed it back it seemed to get worst. That why I thought the DAJ may have something to do with it.

Thanks for you input.

Have you checked the DAJ nozzles? They could be glogged.
I have not had that problem, but I take them out and clean them every winter.
Also the air intake filters on the DAJ could cause a problem if they are dirty. I change them once a year.

I have had Dial-A-Jet for two seasons now with no problems. Have not done anything other than play with settings a little. We have ethanol in the gas so I use Sea Foam in the spring for a while. Overall I'm satisfied with mine.

Mine seem fine.  I agree with the earlier statement about playing with the settings to get a different response.

I also have periods of "off" performance - but have always worked it out with Sea Foam and the like.  This newer gas is KILLING me!

I will have a Dyno test wednesday next week.
Do any of you have a dyno chart?

As many as possible for comparison.

What we need to know is:
*K&N Air filter?
*Aftermarket exhaust? Brand?
*Exhaust mod? Glasspack? Cut Piggies?
*Dyna 3000?
*Jet Kit?
*IS Springs?
*Airbox modifications?
*De-smog?
*Jet size?

Did I forget somthing?

Please post your Dyno Chart (or email it to me [dve@online.no] if you want to be anonymous)

Dag - I am looking forward to seeing your dyno results - please do post that.  I am particularly interested in the air-fuel ratio.  If the DAJ functions as advertised, the AFR should be pretty constant.

Thanks

I will post the result.
The Levis 501 Dyno tells me that I have better performance with the DAJ, "butt" not the exact numbers.
I know the result will be good. Compared with other Valks I have tried, mine is definitely the fastest. (with the exception of Knut Olav`s blown Valk)  Smiley
