trying to drive and text. I'm at a light Saturday in my work van and this cute blond pulls up on my left and has the phone right at mid steering wheel height. The light turns green and she doesn't go? I look over and she is texting away, she realizing the light is green and takes off, as she passes me  she hits the center medium curb and she over corrects but never misses a beat on the phone, she acted like it never happened. I was frigin amazed, she kept on texting for the next 3 miles or so, very scary stuff man, watch yourselves out there the best you can, there's gonna have to be a few deaths unfortunately before anything is done. I just cant believe how important people think it is to stay in constant communication. My 17 year old is not allowed to touch her phone while driving! but this lady was 35 or better, age don't matter when it comes to stupidity. tickedoff

There was a recent PSA about texting and driving ... pretty graphic. It was produced & filmed in Wales and is based upon an actual event. Seems that in the US it may be too graphic so they are still debating if the full video or an edited version should be shown in drivers-ed. Maybe it is me but I think the full version should be shown. I know I use to do a little texting while driving but after seeing the video .... not any more.

Just my almost 2 cents worth.

Just one more diversion.  I've been hit by a young lady talking on her cell and hit by one changing her CD.  I've been run over by a guy talking to his buddy and run over by a guy so drunk he couldn't see straight.  For some reason riding a motorcycle in traffic just isn't fun anymore.

One of the local high schools lost a student recently. The likely cause was texting while driving. I don't know the whole story, but I hope they call the kids in and explain it, but I'm sure that they won't.

The wife and I were driving on a four-laned road the other day in the left lane passing a line of cars.  Out of about a dozen and a half cars, all but two had a cell phone either up to their ear, or in their hand texting.

How in the heck did we ever comunicate before the 80's?

The state of Iowa is going to bring up banning cell phone use in a moving car in their next session.  Already the Des Moines Register is railing Against it!  They compare it to putting on makeup, drinking coffee, eating a hamburger....yea, we know all that goes on, but how often do you see someone weaving, or driving slower than other cars and see that the person isn't eating a hamburger, they are talking on a cell phone or texting.  I've never had someone drift into my lane because they were drinking coffee.  And when talking about fines....$30?  2funny WTF kind of deterrent is a $30 fine?  It should be $300 the first time, then $3000 and 30 days in jail for the second offense.  And if there was a third offense....cut their thumbs off. sounds good, except what about passengers in cars, taxis, and busses?

I don’t want to sound like a bad ass but just the other day I had guy texting and crossed the centerline on me right I was right beside him. Luck  nothing happened till I got behind him and with luck on my side we got stopped at stop light.  So I get off the bike walked up to the window of is car and the thing about it is he was so busy texting that he didn’t see me coming.  I took is phone had a few choice   tickedoff words to say to him and then broke his phone in half and give it back to him.  End of  that deal. Got back on my bike and rode off.  And I’ll do it again if need to.

There was a fella in a big dodge ram with a trailer on post today talking on his cellphone sitting at a 4-way stop. This other guy (military) pulls up next to him and says "Hey, get off your f*&^in cellphone!"
Shoulda seen the guy. I think he was about to get out of his truck, but he looked around and noticed he was surrounded by military folks on all sides. He just gagged it and put down the phone.
I was chuckling as I pulled off. There are some people that have sense out there still.  2funny

Guy couldn't have said it better for me. Put down the f-in cellphone and drive.

Love the cell phone policy on post, now if they can stop people from putting on makeup on Polla rd I'll be happy. Followed a car in the other day and swerving back and forth the entire width of the blacktop the whole way, at the gate I got beside it and it was a lady putting on makeup I told the gate guard and he blew it off.

My cell in the car works good.  It's hands free blue tooth with voice recognition dialing.  I can answer a call with ONE button on the rear view mirror.

Am I allowed to use MY cell phone?

I'll admit that sometimes I text while I am in the car.  I limit it to to when I am at a stoplight.

And I agree with all of you.  I hate the hyper connected pace of life now-a-days.  If I leave my cell in the house and go to the garden and the wife can't get a hold of me for even 10 or 15 minutes... she's all pissed off.

We went to the Gym the other night... and we BOTH forgot our cell phones.  She WANTED to go home to get one... I wouldn't let her, and made her go to the gym with me for a couple hours.  She was having withdrawls I think.

"But what if Steve (my brother who was babysitting our 2 year old) need to get ahold of us?"  If it's an EMERGENCY... he'll call the gym and they'll page us...

On of my guys got hit at a light the other day. Guy was texting and crept forward at a light. Broke his tag mount and almost knocked him over.
He was pissed all day. He got off the bike and went to talk to the guy but the guy wouldn't roll his window down, he just kept taking his picture with his cell phone. He must have been worried that the big bad biker was going to beat him to death, and wanted pictures.

No. I think he was worried about getting busted for Road rage. I heard something about "pounding on his window"  tickedoff

I'd have taken my lumps for that in order to get the moron busted for hitting me in the ass.
