Looking at an IS that has a zumo set up. The guy says the mount is good but the actual gps unit doesnt work well. I was wondering if the garmin zumos have a universal mounting system.
If I were to buy a new unit, what would you recommend?

There are several zumos mine is a 550 which is the same as I think the 400 but the 600 is completely different.  Go on ebay and look up zumo docks or mounts, find the one you have and it should list what fits it  cooldude

I have the Zumo 450.  The mount came with the gps.  You buy another unit, the mount will come with it unless you can find the unit separately.

It's a standard Ram mount except for the adapter plate that is specific to the brand and model of the gps.

The Zumo 550 is a great bike GPS. There are repair shops that specialize in repairing them on a flat fee schedule. You can read about them on the Zumo forum.
