clutch question
«

Bike put away for season, were I store it I can not jack it up. I do have the bike in a wheel chock standing up straight. Question can clutch be done without jacking up bike?
Thank you in advance for any input on this, and I own 98 standard, had clutch handle issues a few times and what sounded like an internal rotational rattling/grinding noise and then noise gone and clutch pulls all the way again

Hey Matt, what do you mean by "and clutch pulls all the way again" ?? If the lever pulls all the way in with no resistance or clutch action, you may have a hydraulic problem, If so you can troubleshoot that without jacking up the bike. Your noticing an "internal rotational rattling/grinding noise" suggests an internal problem,, for that you want some room to work and will need have access underneath to get into the clutch.

Hey Pancho, I am feeling its a rivit issue. A couple times I could not pull lever all the way in, I would hear noise about same time then when noise disappeared clutch would come all the way in. I know I need work room but was hoping someone that has worked on clutch can let me know if job can be done with bike standing up right off kick stand
thank you

yes it can be done with bike standing up. but keep in mind the kick stand has to be removed. to get the slave cyl, off. so your going to have to either lift it with a jack or your going to have to be very skinny to get under the bike with it sitting on the ground. to do it without jacking the bike up to get under it would be a feat in itself.
