Moving ahead so life won’t pass me by.

My neutral light is a bugger to come on when I'm standing still and going thru the gears to get it in neutral. The transmission is in neutral but I have to keep wiggling the shifter to make the light come on. Again only when I'm standing, let's say at a light and I'm shifting to get her in neutral. When I'm moving there is no issue getting the light to come on as I down shift.

Sounds like a new neutral sensor is needed.  It's behind  (attached to) the engine front cover.

Please rethink shifting into neutral at lights.  Especially in FL where we have many of the worst drivers in the nation, and so many out of Towner's that Aren't paying attention to motorcycles.  I keep it in gear hand on the throttle aware of my mirrors and have had to move to avoid being hit once.  Would have been ugly.

+1. My motorcycle safety teacher taught us:  when coming to a stop, whether it be a stop sign or light or...
ALWAYS make sure that the bike is in first gear, stand up, turn around and  look for any vehicles coming up from behind AND always try to leave enough room between you and the vehicle in from of you for a possible "escape" if necessary.
It has become my habit regardless what I am driving/ riding. Been a "sandwich" and have the neck pain to remind me.
And this is before texting was even thought of.
Your bike, your ride, your life.

Ride safe.

Not sure about the stand up advice. I want to be in first, right foot on rear brake, hands on throttle and clutch.

But everything else  cooldude

Most riders DO NOT leave enough room between themselves and the vehicle in front.

Plus many sit in the center of their lane making it even more difficult to move forward past the rear corner of the vehicle ahead.

I think he meant side stand up, not stand up as opposed to sitting down.

i agree with Chris, sounds like the neutral switch behind the fron cover is worn. Like everything else, it can eventual wear out. It is nothing more than a single wafer rotary switch.
