What have you guys found to work best or not work? Picked up some 3m molding tape but wonder if some glue/adhesive would be better. What experience have ya got?

My experience is that double sided tape (on perfectly cleaned surfaces) works better than glue or RTV sealant.  Plus the tape can be cut to perfect size (keeping water out), whereas gook is messy and requires cleanup and may result in small water-holding cavities.

or replace them with LED equivalents, I would do that yet I can't seem to find red LED lights that would be close to the size of the reflectors...  Angry

I think they are in this list.  (HDL used to sell them, but I have abandoned them like they abandoned us)

Bill (Grumpy) posted some time ago about how he added them to OE valk bags (I believe he just sanded off a bit off the front or rear portion of the backside of the rectangles to fit better on the curved bags) and stuck them on.  Tiny hole in the bag for the wiring. They should be stick-on only, no through-bag-bolt for mount (or cut it off).

I also recall reading that if you ground them to your signal grounds, they will be run and turn in function, even single circuit. Need to be red.

Dave their are two types of 3M automotive double back tape on general use and one Heavy duty used for mouldings Ect. That is what I used on both my bags after paint. Just cleaned the back of the reflector and place on the bag with rubbing Alcohol then stuck them down and no problems cooldude

I find when using double sided tape everything sticks much better if you use a blow dryer or heat gun to heat it up just a little before sticking it on.

And where would one find the heavy duty 3M tape?  I checked all of my local auto parts stores and none of them have any thick or heavy duty 3M tape, just the standard stuff.

Or sign supply. It's expensive, but if you need a very small amount like for the reflectors, just go by your local sign shop. They will probably fix you up for little or nothing. Or drop by mine and you'll be fixed up just for the visit.
3M VHB (very high bond) or equivalent.

Been using this tape for a very long time on multiple applications, sticks really well.

I bought 3m VHB for my second hand swing arm covers off of eBay. Lots of size choices and comes right to the mailbox.

We used to sell a lot of stick on stuff where I used to work and we included adhesion promoter to be applied to the tape prior to installing the farkles
Lots of Mustang specific farkels

I put a set of LED light reflectors on my old VT 1100 which has exactly the same bags as the Valkyrie interstate. They didn't have the through bolts and fit perfectly in the existing recess. Problem is  I cannot find them anywhere anymore

Advance Auto Parts:

They have super-duper mounting tape at the big box stores, like papa pump
posted... I've gotten that before and thought it seemed like the right stuff. They
definitely have wimpy stuff at the big box store too, so make sure the package
says "high strength molding tape" or some such...

Need to find ones without the 6mm bolt.

Pretty easy to take them out. Just use a vice grip and twist them off. Comes out with ease without damaging anything. See the yellow markers on the radiator side covers of my black bike.

Big Bike Parts used to carry them....however they are no longer available.  You can get the amber ones though the last time I checked.
