What is the proper type of lower cord to buy for the IS headset connection.
I think it is the same 5 pin 1500 goldwing connection, just wondering if the 1800 goldwing uses the same connection?

It's the same as the GW.

Ensure that your headset connection MATES to your lower cord!
I ran into that issue with newer style J&M headsets and the PO having old style J&M lowers (I had to buy both new lowers, $$).

I haven't tried yet, but I think it's my Chatter Box head set, has a PS/1 connection on the top, and the lower on the bike is a PC connection.

I'm talking computer keyboard connections. You can buy the cables/adapters at good computer stores.
