Going to be looking at one in the near future, I'll pass along my opinion. Love to have one, not sure I should put out the bucks. The garage is already far from empty, and then there's another issue involved.....and we all know who she is!   Roll Eyes

She'd go for it if I can show where money can be made, assuming I didn't keep it. A grave assumption at best.  Wink  I've rec'd. some pictures and there's a definite need for elbow grease. Beyond that....who knows. One thing for sure, I'd go over it from one end to the other. If it runs good I'd most likely leave the carbs alone but definitely change the petcock. Brake pads, flush everything, pull the rear end and go through it....just the usual stuff to make it reliable for the next owner. Then dangle a few worms in the water and see what bites.  Grin

I do...she probably would. Remember, John has two in there already... and enough tools to build a 747.  cooldude

Aaahhh you guys......are sooo right!  Sad   If I should get it(IF), this might be a good time to test the theory that it's sometimes easier to get forgiveness than permission. I haven't seen the bike yet, we can't seem to hit a good meeting time. He works, I don't.

UPDATE: Rita and I talked about it last night, decided I should finish the 1200 project first even thought it was my savings I would be drawing from. When it comes to a rather large expenditure, that's still our method regardless. I explained the difference between the 1200 and the '99 I restored four years ago. The 1200 gives me something to do since many days I need to stay close to home, the '99 was a money maker....over $4100 profit in about six weeks of work. She understands the difference, and the compassion for the Valkyrie(not her exact word: compassion  Wink), but you get the idea.

So if anyone is interested in the bike, here's the Craigslist ad and a couple pics. It will need some elbow grease for sure, but I know I could make her shine. Oh well....another time.

Looks like someone loved her at one time.  Paint looks good.  Low enough price that you could have turned a decent profit.

Every time I look at the ad it says $4500

Your link says $2750

Do I have the wrong bike?   I look at Tampa CL to find it. http://orlando.craigslist.org/mcy/5417289104.html

The ad for $4500 was posted over a month ago, the $2750 was posted in the last couple days. Guess he dropped the price.

Same here Bert and when I see what the Valks are going for lately, the chances of making a profit get even slimmer

I pulled a mean trick on Rita this evening.....I showed her the pictures of the yellow/black that's for sale locally. At first I didn't tell her it was the one I wanted to buy. She took one look at the pics and said what a pretty color combo that is but wouldn't it be expensive to have yours painted like that. I told her yes, about $2750. Then, after a couple more times telling me what a pretty bike, I told her it was the one I had talked about with her last week. Her response....."nice try sport" then just walked away. Can't say I didn't try!  Wink
