We are going northwest this month.  We'll start in Denton and eventually wind up on the square in Decatur for lunch at Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes Family Homestyle Restaurant (from the folks who brought you Babe's Fried Chicken).

The tentative route is 125 miles from Denton to Decatur.  Mapquest says it will take about 2.5 hours.  Google Maps says it will take 4.5 hours.  I think they're probably both wrong.  If time and weather permit, I'll check it out Friday.

Meet-up: 8:30am at the Chevron parking lot in the NE quadrant of I-35 and W University (Hwy 380) in Denton.  There is a McDonald's (2930 W University) next door.

KSU: 9:00am

ETA Lunch: 12:00 - 1:00pm

Menu: http://www.sweetiepiesribeyes.com/menu.php

Yes, they do have chicken fried steak and pie.   cooldude

I don't know about Kim but not only does the pie get my interest but the WHOLE THING sounds pretty good.  Especially since it looks like Sunday is going to be the first 'blue bird day' in over a week of wishy and washy streets and gutters.
If anybody's coming from East of Dallas Tollway and North of LBJ want to meet up, throw a post out there and lets see what might be handy.

I plan to be there...  may see you in Denton or just a Sweetie Pie's ...  They have most excellent rolls.  Everything I have tried has been good.

did you notice the chicken fried ribeye?  I didn't try that, but others in the group did.

I have had the chicken fried ribeye last time the group was there.  It is excellent.  Pie's not too shabby either.  Probably not gonna make this ride since we will be getting back into the Metromess at 5am that day finishing the Iron Butt ride on Saturday.  1040 miles in 24 hours.  It'll take a little more than a piece of pie to put me back on Pumpkin for another 4.5 hours that day.  You guys have fun and ride safe. Understood, Doc.  You and Joe be careful and have fun.  Good luck!

Of course, if you get back at 0500, you could make one lap before we get there, make another with us, have lunch, make another lap and a half, and head home.  Should be close to 1,500!   Evil

Depending on what route, maybe you could take 2.5 hrs to get to Decatur from Denton....straight west on 380 is 33 miles and if you stayed in 1st gear maybe 1.5 hrs.....lol. One could head NW and go thru Forestburg then circle back into Decatur and that might take 2.5 hrs....just seems like you might get there before they open for lunch....lol.

Janet & I rode it this afternoon.  127 'wing miles at a reasonable pace in 2:30 - including a 15-minute stop.  We even "test-rode" the pie for dinner!   cooldude

So, if we are KSU @ 0900 and take a 30-minute break, we should still be parking on the square by 1145, or so.  Any later than that and we'll be behind an even bigger after-church crowd.  Our server told us patrons are lined up waiting to get in when the open at 1200 on Sundays.  No biggie - gives us more time to talk.

Looks like it's going to be a great day to ride.

Sounds like a great outing.  I was going to make this one, but I made a (good) emergency trip to Palm Springs instead.

Have fun.

Thanks to everyone for coming out.  It was a good mix of regulars, long-timers, and first-timers.  We even had a certain roadside photographer greet us as we came into town.

It's good to see Baldwin back on a bike.  (Hey Rainmaker, you'll really like his IS!)

Special thanks to TX Wolfman for helping out with the after-lunch activities.

John wins the Longest Ride to (and From) Lunch recognition.  Mr. & Mrs. The Jet win the Shortest Ride Home recognition.
