I have a 1999 I/S trike. The problem I am having is gas is leaking from number 2 carb. It only leaks when motor is running. Any suggesting on what is doing this and how to fix it?...thanks.

My leak was coming from the fuel rail.  The hardest part about removing the carbs is getting the heat shield out before removing the carbs.  There is a series of fantastic videos on YouTube about removing the carbs.

Has the bike recently been taken out of storage?

Most have had this problem after starting it for the 1st time of the season. The rail O-rings dry out and shrink. After fuel makes contact again, they moisten up and expand  Lips Sealed and seal again. Usually after a day or 3.

You need to get down in there and figure out where it is leaking while it is.

If I take the tank off how will I get gas to the carbs to see where its leaking?

If I find out that it is O-rings does anyone know where I can get these?

Read post #2 again. Exhaust all remedies before attempting to take the carburetors apart. Try gasoline additives.

ok...tried the Sea Foam thru a tank of gas....the problem seems to be it leaks only sometimes...one time I rode it for about 75 miles no leak...let it sit for a couple of hours and started it up and rode about 30 miles and it started leaking again....could the choke have anything to do with this?

As to your question, it is very unlikely the leak is connected to the choke. As to using SeaFoam, well that is probably the least effective additive you could have chosen.

Berrymans B12 or Techron would be much more likely to resolve your problem of leaking gasoline, ALTHOUGH it may already be on the road to recovery.

I'd suggest to do nothing more until your are sure the leak still persists. Another tank at least.

Which would be better to try, Berrymans B12 or Techron, and which type for my problem?

Berryman's is better IMO. Available at your Walmart for under $4.00

Do I put the whole can in the tank or about half?

get yourself a small inspection mirror and use it with a flash light to look for the leak.  I assume you are using the OEM vacuum actuated petcock? That would explain the leak only when the bike is running. If you are, try to apply a vacuum source to the valve using the Mighty Vac or something to create a vacuum to open the valve letting the carbs set with gas pressure on them all the time without the motor running. I have had fuel rail leaks, a carb overflow leak and a bowl gasket leak on the last one. I then went thru the carbs replacing all 0-rings and bowl gaskets including all the pilot needle o-rings and replaced the OEM jets with aftermarket ones. The idle is much smoother now. Redeye sells everything you need but the jets.

Good luck.

I think when you see a leak, you need to inspect very carefully and find where is it leaking from. You can do a lot of other things, but it won't fix a thing.

Like if the float bowl is leaking, you need a new gasket. No amount of carb cleaner or running the bike will fix it.
