Have you considered rebuilding it? A MUCH cheaper alternative and very easy.

16953-MBZ-B51      <--- OEM rebuild kit... $28 or $30...

I just looked it up over at partzilla... it fits about a jillion different hondas, I didn't

Or put a Pingle in. There are also a few other brands that don't require the vacuum line so less chance for problems.

I put a Pingle petcock in mine, AND added the electric fuel shutoff. If the key isn't in, fuel doesn't run. That's huge peace of mind and in my opinion, worth the money.

I can drive from S.C. to CALI with my gas turned "OFF".

I have rebuilt two seperate units and got the same thing.  The second one I drilled out the rivets, replaced the internal "O" rings and stretched the spring a little to put a  more pressure on the ball as it sits in the seats.
I rebuilt it as a manual and plugged the vacuum ports. I have the in-line solenoid for innshurance against liquid lockup, which of course we know can be rather devastating.

It's a pizz poor design but looks nice with the plastic chrome dial an all.........
Who knows.......maybe I don't know what I'm doing with these petcocks.....I can never rule that out!

I rebuilt mine 5 years ago and haven't had a problem since.
