I just can't do it.  I really screwed up and knew better, I thought.  I already owned the best motorcycle ever made with absolutely nothing wrong with it and then I bought a new GW.  Sure the GW has reverse, Nav, GPS, ABS, cruise, better mileage, more plastic than a set of Legos and other bells and whistles BUT it ain't no Interstate.  The thrill of riding just isn't the same on a Wing.  I just don't "FEEL IT" when I ride the Wing.  Well, at least the wife loves the Wing.

Now I have two world class bikes in the garage (if a GW is considered a bike) and I am afraid they both are going to stay put.

I will volunteer to babysit one of your bikes at a time to remove the pain caused by this situation. I'll even ride it regularly so it remains in working order. Let me know when and where  cooldude

I Feel Your Pain

I Was Crazy over the Looks of the Interstate.

I too Own a Goldwing GL1800

I went for a Valkyrie Tourer so I would have less Choices. Another words if going on long haul
I grab the Wing ( If I had an Interstate I would have to Chose then)

Short Haul I Grab the Valk.

As far as not feeling it on the wing .....for me I can make this Big girl corner like a Crotch Rocket.
So point being for me , the wing offers incredible power, power steering type handling at high speeds in corners.
That alone Moves me ...then add the stereo and quietness. I just Love it.

The wing is so much heavier then my Valk and I feel the weight on the Valk but the wing can out manuever the Valk anyday and better balanced, as far as I am concerned. So again when I want Cadillac style  and Handling I opt for my wing, when I want to feel old school, Loud, and Harley~ish I opt for the Valk.

I'd say that makes it black and white to me... no grey area there..  Grin

A man with fewer than two motorcycles is woefully under-equiped.

Guess I should really count my blessings.  Here I am with two of the best machines ever made, each different in a positive way, AND a wife that says "let's keep them both but when I ride we take the Wing".  She loves that Wing.  So the first week in October we are off via the NW corner of SC, across northern Georgia and Tennessee and on to St. Louis for a few days, then down to Georgetown, TX on HER bike.

Make the Interstate a Super Valk!!!  You will love riding it even more, and make a few bucks selling the trunk to boot!!

The Valkyrie's got character and personality that speaks to us.

I know we're the minority compared to Wing owners, but the Wing just doesn't "speak" to me, whole the Valkyrie is always saying "come ride me babee.."

who says you have to get rid  of either of them?

if you're feeling sorry for starving children in africa when you ride, then you've got a problem.  if not, don't worry about it!  keep 'em both!!

Talk about an embarrassment of riches!  12 cylinders of motorcycle on only 4 wheels!  Spoiled?  Yes we are.  Rotten.

A buddy of mine faced the same dilemma and wound up selling his IS.  Although practically all of his riding is solo, he wouldn't Super-Valk it.  His appraisal was that he basically had two of the same bike and, in his opinion, one did everything better.  He bought a GS1200 to go with the 'wing.

Super-Valk (but keep the take-offs) the IS for solo riding and enjoy the couch-rocket that is the 'wing.  We sure do!  Heck, I enjoy the 'wing solo, too!

had a similar delima with two Valks. So, as I told my bride, the Standard is mine, (had cobra pipes, no baffles) and the Interstate is hers, smooth, comfy, stock pipes. (I'm the chaufer). It worked.

It seems the smart thing is to keep both of them and enjoy the best of two worlds.  Not everyone is that fortunate.  And besides, I don't think the Interstate will ever go out of style and just might be a rare find one day.  And it has CHARACTER!!!
