Oil level on 2014 Valk just above lower level, how much oil?

Hi I still haven't even run my 2014 Valkyrie yet, since trailered home in Dec.... Anyway, I decided to check all the fluids... I made sure the bike was on level ground, and then blocked up the kick stand to almost level, then placed my hydraulic jack on the other side of the engine guard, and then leveled it... When I went to check the oil level, it just read on the oil dipstick, just barely above the lower line.... Does anyone know about how much oil it will take? This is just conversation, but I am at work, and I drove 2 hours to pick up oil this morning.... SO, this is just out of curiosity. The bike was a bike with 180 miles on it. I'm not sure if the shop ever even checked the oil level..... Anyway, being it read on the stick, I'm not to worried. The book says to run bike for 3 to 5 minutes, then wait about that long, and then check the oil, and just sticking the dipstick in till it bottoms out, without screwing it in.

Anyway, is there alot of difference in level, when warm, verses sitting for months cold?               

And, at that level on the dipstick, about how much oil to bring it up to Operating level? Thanks for any info....

I probably will get it in between the marks and warm it up, then go through checking procedure before adding oil up to upper line.

When I changed mine, the filter was screwed on real hard from the factory, so
here's what size filter wrench works:

There is an easier and safer method. Remove the dipstick, wipe and then return the dipstick, but do not screw it back in. Sit on the bike and bring it to level. Wait a few seconds and then place it back on the side stand. Pull the dipstick and read. Oil level should be between the two lines.

Exactly...   Bike holds roughly at least 4 qts...maybe a bit more, but not much.

One more question, why in the world is my friends new F6B say in the manual 3.9 quarts of oil (with filter change) and the Valks say 4.1 Quarts of oil (with filter change)... I thought drive trains were same...

There are two basic oil filter sizes that fit.  Unfortunately, I don't have my list in front of me, but it's the length of the two filters that is different.  Different by about an inch. 

1 inch of filter will make 0.1 or 0.2 Qt difference in oil capacity. 

If I had to make a guess, I would say the Valk uses the longer filter in stock form, thus the difference between the manuals.

However, the engines ARE the same and either of the two lengths will work fine.

The oil level issue seems to be a bit different in these bikes. Most you just take it off the side stand clean the stick dip and thats about it. On this if you do that especially when cold you wont get a real reading. The correct way is to run the bike, shut it off, wait a minute or two and then read it. I thought I had an issue at first because when I checked the level it was ok but was not consistent. What I found is if you take the bike off the stand lean it over to the right then bring it back on center then check the oil it was consistent. I could also run the engine and then put it upright and it was pretty consistent. I dont know what it is but a quick level  check without the bike being run produces a inconsistent level at least for me.
