Have a '99 standard that will not start with clutch in and in gear. Looked through old posts and at least one issue was clutch lever and bushing wear. The clutch lever rattles to the point that it is annoying when riding, so I thought that was a good place to start. Found a nice set of OEM levers on Craigslist, so I thought I would get at it. One problem, I am a carpenter NOT much of a mechanic. This project seems pretty straightforward, but I thought I would hit up the braintrust anyway. When I take the lever off, are springs and things going to start flying around? Any instructions from the forum?

Thank you,
Dcon

no spring's will fly.  Just pay attention to the brass bushings and make sure everything goes back on the way it cam off.  Put a very small amount of grease on the pivoting parts.  Should take 5 minutes per lever

Of all the great minds on this forum, I was hoping that you would be the first to reply Chris. I am working on the bike outside, so I was a little afraid of having parts fly and not finding them again.

if you put your ear down by the clutch lever you should hear the switch click when the clutch lever is pulled in all of the way.

Ok done,
Old brass bushing in the original lever pretty worn. Changed it out and Valk started up in gear with clutch in. Chris was dead on, 5 minutes....

Thank you Chris and Indy
