Cleaned the carbs up and reassembled the Valk.  Got it running and seems to be running great (haven't ridden it yet).  Problem is I have a massive fuel leak.  I installed a Frankenstein fuel line I got from Red Eye.  It was too short at the tank.  Anyway I added some more hose and buttoned things up and when it started fuel went everywhere.  Does anyone here know if I can change the fuel line without removing the carbs again?  Any suggestions?  I did NOT remove the carbs from the assembly, just turned them upside down and cleaned them.

Thanks for the help.

By the way that air box only took me 15 min. to install and tighten all the tubes!  Beginners luck??

Replacing the lines without taking the carbs out will be a piece of cake *...

Make sure you got the airbox tubes seated on the backs of the intake runners before you
declare victory there...

Well, It wasn't the fuel line...I rigged up a temporary fuel bottle up and let a few ounces of fuel into the carbs and fuel started pouring out of the left fuel vent tube.  It was so bad it filled #4 intake port full of fuel.  I sucked the fuel out of the port and will later remove the spark plugs and turn over the engine to get all the raw fuel out (don't want to hydro lock it).  I wonder what the cause is?  Stuck float needle??? Any ideas?

Thanks

Bob

P.S. It was a victory as I used a mirror and all the tubes were on the carbs.  LOL

You are correct.  Just came back from the bike shop in Kingman, Ks. and spoke to the mechanic.  He said tap on it and if that don't fix it take the carbs back out.  Clean the needles and seats again and try to flush the fuel tubes.  Then  bench fill it with fuel to see if it runs over again while the assembly is out of the bike.  Well, I know how to R and R the airbox and the carbs so that is what I'll do.  Twice in 2 days is a little much though!

By the way...this bike has 4" truck stacks on it and they are VERY LOUD.  Is there any easy way to quiet them down some without replacing them?

Thanks

If they are truck stacks with glasspacks, you may be able to get longer glasspacks with a smaller bore.

In addition, you can "peel" a set of silencers from a stock set and just slip into the end of the truck stacks and secure with one bolt.

I bought a set of silencers from Ernie at Dragon Exhaust. He calls them "wife pleasers". He charged me $80 including shipping. I haven't actually installed them yet though so I can't report on the results.
