I finally changed over to Rotella ($18 bucks from Wally World), and I got a Luber-Finer filter from my local supplier ($6 bucks). A $24 dollar oil change as apposed to last time when I got my supplies from my local stealer which came out to around $60 bucks.
There’s nothing finer than a ride on a bike with a fresh oil change and that’s just what I’m fixin to do!!  Grin
Anyone else running Rotella in there Valk?

Been running the Rotella T synthetic for 3 years now.  I see no reason to change.

I only ever saw one color cap, but I did hear Shell droped one of the API ratings or what ever you call them. Anyway it's still the same oil as before.

There is only one Rotella Synthetic 5w-40.  There is no specific lid color to look for.  If its says Rotella Synthetic 5w-40 you are good to go.  There are two different jugs...the old jug and the new jug, but they are both blue in color and have the very same oil in them.  And I might add, there is only one 5w-40 from Rotella, and it is the synthetic.  Its pretty hard to get the wrong stuff....

Tech board linked to a report done by a scooter-riding engineer.  He wrote that Rotella synthetic and a Pure One oil filter is the hot ticket.

I got my 1st change of Rotella oil last fall and so far I have not noticed any difference over my Mobil 1 (auto) usage.

I'll probably go back to Mobil 1 on the next change.  Especially since I still have about 16 quarts in da big ole box(s)......

The Rotella usage was due to getting a sale person at the shop to shut up instead of throwing his arse out the door.  Sure glad they replaced him, he could be a royal pain just like I can or is, right Scott?

Starting a new thread is done by going to the main forum page, where all the threads/topics are listed, and hitting "new topic" on the top right of the thread/topic list.

Give this one a chance.  I think once you find the buttons that are in different spots, or called different things, it will seem a lot better.

Anyhow, back to the oil, thanks. I have Moble 1 in now and yes, I have noticed more noise than before. Want to try the Rotella stuff. I do get the filter from the honda shop. Prob could order it from HDL, but shipping would end up making it higher? No, we do not have to go there again !!!  Cheesy  Thanks for the info.
By the way, how old ya got to be to be a old fart??  I aint but 55 so I got a while to go, right ?? !!  Grin

Charles is our recouping IS rider. Rearranged some body parts - his and his '99 Interstate a while back. I hope you are feeling good enough to make the meeting tomorrow, Charles.

As for 55, KCF, I am very familiar with that number myself this year! Just a number. Doesn't have to be a crusty state of mind any more than any other age.

I'm a NOOB to the Valkyrie world having just bought a 2000 I/S Friday.  I've gotta ask this based on previous experience on another of the "power cruiser" family.  (V-max)
No issues with clutch slippage when going to a car oil?  No transmission issues either?
I know that you guys are using it but I gotta ask b/c I've heard it all over the years...the good, the bad and have personally had to replace an ugly clutch from Mobile 1.

Welcome aboard Drew,
Have you checked this out?
http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/#OIL

When I first got my Valk you could still find Mobil 1 with out Moly.
When I couldn't find it anymore I switched to Rotella T.
I commute a lot and like having synthetic. I think it hold up better. Just my opinion.
