We had a nice weekend there, arrived Friday night at sunset.  Saturday 8 a.m. had a half day on the water, 12 Spanish mackerel and a sheepshead. The Local "Sunset Coastal Grill" will fry them up for you and garnish the sides. Spent the rest of the day sightseeing. Had the best oysters at "Shipwrecked". Cool ride home, left at 9 and home by 3.
This is where the ferry goes to St. Vincent Island.

The Carrabelle beach access

I have a few boring shots without the Valkyrie in them if anybody wants to see.. laugh

So we should consider an overnight ride here to meet the western brotheren. We stayed at the Mainstay hotel. good enough. arrive on a Friday night, rest, Saturday  meet up/ride, ride some more, eat up again, sleep, ride home Sunday morning. ? coolsmiley

Thanks for the pics Mike.  Glad you and Liz were able to get out.  Hey is that the beach where they trained for the D-Day invasion?  Looks familiar, we stopped there a couple of times on the way to or from the annual Valkyrie gathering in Panama City.  Have you ever stopped at the Gorrie Museum in Appalachicola that pays tribute to Dr. John Gorrie?  He was awarded the first patent for mechanical refrigeration in 1851.  Nice place to  rest your rear end and it only costs $2 to tour.

Yep Terry that's the historic beach.  We will keep that museum in mind for future rides.

Great pic's Mike. Wish I'd of headed that way instead of the disappointing Conference I attended in B'ham.  Sad  I sent you a PM but would love to get my Valk brothers back this way. Perhaps the 2nd weekend of May? Let me know..... Glad you and Liz got to make the trip over. Have a Great week.

Mike,

I am the only one that noticed that you were asking for interest in an overnight ride to where you spent the weekend, or am I hallucinating? Depending on when, it would be nice to do a destination ride.

Time frame?

You are the only one Pete, and you're not hallucinating. My better half quickly reminded me of our busy schedule with the 30th party and then the Inzane trip coming up...but, I maybe able to pull off the 2nd weekend of May, using points to keep my expenses down I would consider the 13th staying in Perry at Holiday Inn Express, then Saturday at the Mainstay in PSJ it is a "choice" brands hotel. Farside said he and a friend where to be motoring around that area that weekend.  Let's think about it and I will talk with Liz as well.

I'll need to check as well. I know Viv can't ride that far but if the trailer I ordered is ready by then....

I am clear to do something that weekend, this is not the most exciting of rides to get there as most of the roads are straight as an arrow for miles and miles. But there are not many other options in this state to meet up with panhandlers in a weekend. maybe some others will chime in and we can decide then.  cooldude

Hey Mike, what was the road we took that ran along the ST. Johns river when we went for lunch? was it 13A ? Thinking about taking it to get out of FL on our way to Myrtle.

Hey Mike, my neighbor Bill was the gentleman that made the ride to Bert's with me on the first ride of the year. We both are going to ride towards PSJ most likely go further towards Apalachicola that Friday 13th. The stretch of Hway 319/98 east to Carrabelle then on to St Marks. It is a nice ride along the coast and the lighthouse a nice historical site to visit. You'd be taking Hway 98 out of Perry and we could meet at the St. Marks Lighthouse if you'd like. I know you were just in this area so if it doesn't work out I surely understand. We will both be headed up to InZane as well and maybe with a couple others.
Let me know if you think it will work out that weekend.  coolsmiley

Not sure about this yet but since most work on Friday I figured Perry was doable Friday night by 9p.m. then leave there 9 a.m. onward to PSJ. Still looking for more interest, will give it a while longer.

Hello to the real Florida riders.  I think I am the friend of Farside.  Keith and I and at least two other riders will be heading into Apalachicola Fri the 13th.  Some of us will be staying at the Gibson inn the others nearby.  It would be cool to meet all together for dinner Friday night or maybe lunch Saturday.  Nothing is in concrete except the dates.  Basically the 13, 14 and heading back on the 15th

Hope to meet some new faces and some old ones....lol

Ok guys! I see my friend Chrisj (Jeff) beat me to a post today. Yes, there could be as many as 7-8 making the journey counting a few I have rounded up. I believe we will all be on a Valk too.  Roll Eyes I also met a Valk rider outside Dothan a month ago and he might even try to get there. His name is Glen, nice guy! Some are staying in Apalachicola Gibson Inn and others at the Rancho Inn. I look forward to meeting up with you riders leaving Perry Sat. morn headed to the St Marks Lighthouse. I think we were looking to get there around 10. It will be good to catch up with our Eastern and central FL brothers! Maybe we can get a few more riders out of Panama City and Tallahassee to chime in for a day ride or more. coolsmiley

Hello to all.  GIjoe here, I am Farside's cousin in Milton, FL.  Panhandle of Florida, I am planning on riding with him and a couple others, ChrisJ CMA, and another Valk rider from Penscola (who needs a nickname by the way), to Apalachicola on the 13th and 14th of May, staying at the "Rancho Inn".  Need to find a good place to eat oysters and have a cold beer Friday Night, any suggestions?
Perhaps riding to the St Marks Lighthouse Saturday, back for early dinner at the "Coastal Grill" in PSJ that afternoon, RTB Sunday.
