Hardwick NJ

« on: September 20, 2009, 06:01:38 AM »

First let me tell you that i have worked for the Railroad all my life her in NJ, 34 yrs now and loved every minute of it.
Alot of the guys i work with started their Railroad life in Pennsylvania and came down to NJ in the early 80's because the commuter rails shut down. This is one of the places they talk about working on back in the Glorious days of Railroading in this country. The bridge is still in operation today and is one of the engineering marvels of the 20th century. If you are a Railroad buff look up the Lackwanna Cutoff and another of the engineering wonders of the century. The pics of the plaques will give you the info on the bridge and if you want to know more Google it .

That's really cool... here's a giant closeup picture I found...

I didn't "in-line" it, it is 1.6 gigabytes...

Robin,

Glad you were able to get out and ride this weekend...I would love to see that bridge in person...I have heard about it...but never seen it...

Maybe a fall color ride will be in order....
