I just replaced the shifter seal on my Valk.
I now only have first gear and neutral.
What did I do wrong.   uglystupid2

You probably did not replace the shifter pedal mechanism the same as it came off, and it now binds (or hits) against the exhaust or some other part of the motor when you try to shift up through the gears.

Ricky-D, you're correct.
I had the shifter angled just too high.
Simple adjustment.
Thanks for the advice.   cooldude

Quick question:  Were you able to R&R the seal by just removing the shifter etc??  A so called mechanic tried to tell me that the engine had to be loosened and moved, like the Goldwings !! ??  I've already bought the seal, but the leak is very small and slow.  It's the original and it has ONLY 209.7K on it.  I guess I better do it myself.

Earl
This is a 10 to 15 minute job, at most.
10mm nut at both shifter peg and shaft.
take off the shifter pef.
take off the shifter shaft. (use a long extension and a universal joint with your socket.
Gently pry off the shifter shaft.
Clean the seal area.
Scew in a short screw into the old seal. Then pull it out with pliers.
This will remove the old seal.
Oil the new seal and replace. tap it into place and put everything back on. cooldude cooldude
