just installed a smart switch on my '98 tourer, super simple install of a product that reeks of quality! i'll have to ride with it but i expect that it will help with night riding a bunch!  i'll report back after i get a chance to ride... |

fwiw, when you support an advertiser you support the forum, i'm sure i could have put something together cheaper but i know that to put something this nice together it would have required far more time and effort sourcing the parts, paying freight to the local parts store etc... as they say, to each his own but for me i'm happy with my purchase...

One of the restorations I did ( 79 gold wing ) is I installed an oil pressure switch that would make contact to ground when the motor would start. I connected the ground side of the relay to the pressure switch that way, when I would start the bike it would send power to the lights bypassing the starter switch. It was a crazy idea but it works. I know what some are going to say, what if the pressure switch goes then, you have no lights ya I know, what if a fuse burns, what if the bulb burns what if. LOL  |

I have the digi-sync and am reading through the reviews on the smart switch ....... I'm thinkin' it would be smart to get one as I'm having trouble with my start switch. |

I installed one this winter and the light is a tad brighter plus bypassing full current away from the starter button circuit is well worth the purchase alone. New starter button, $66. This is very quality unit but a light bucket smaller than a Valk, might be a real pain the arse to install. The unit needs about 3" more lead wire to be placed more comfortably in the bucket IMO but I managed.

No thanks.....the Smart Switch, a relay for the Cobra lightbar, diodes on the turn indicator (small but make me nervous about just shoving wires), and the headlight modulator are enough to make me dread having to change a headlight bulb. Lately the bullet connectors want to fall apart in the bucket and under the right side cover even after a slight crimp to try tightening the female connector. |

Cracker, bullet connectors from two different suppliers are not usually compatible . I learned thru wire get and returned wiring many bikes.
As for Bons products, A plus. Sure ,I could make something cheaper and it will work. I have the digisync sync and the smart switch. I also have a set of carbuerators by the BEST builder. Atticrat. I do a lot , but some times want better.
Nothing wrong with saving money tho.

Prez, all the bullet connectors are OEM to the best of my knowledge. I have had the wiring apart a great deal while adding lights, changing lights, soldering connections........ The Smart Switch actually saved me room in the bucket as I eliminated the two relays that used to be there for my headlight to save the starter switch. The Smart Switch is a cleaner, simpler way of dealing with starter switch and the high wattage bulb issues than the set-up I put in when I got my Big Girl. I can't wait to order the Digi-Sync but other priorities are stalling that at the moment. A Suzuki GS1100GL has been occupying the lift lately that will soon require a carb synchronization. (Only 4, piece of cake!  ) |
