Here is where I am at,  I'm happy with the side looks big time however I'm worried the massive space in the back is going to look like a hack job.  I think I will go with it however I am going to sleep on it.

Took the supplied spacers at the top out and ran the top bracket in front of the bottom bracket, thus pulling the top in 3/4".   So it is better.

What you have done with the bags look good just wish they could be brought in so there tighter to the fender .

I understand why your a bit concerned but, they look good, they just look like they need to come in some more and with those brackets I don't think its going to happen. The Corbin brackets keep the bags alot closer. The Corbin brackets actually are almost flush with the fender and if you have the Champion bags they are made strong you could get rid of that flat plate also.  I will try and get some pics of them if you are interested and see if you can fabricate something close. The other thing is make sure that the bags don't come so far forward so as to leave no room for the passenger feet.

The flat plate will not add to the space and I used 1200° paint on it to protect it and the bag from the exhaust heat also the top of the bag (let's say the lid is up) misses the top stock threaded holes. So I will have to keep the bent steel.

Me Too.  I will keep working to that end.  I was also thinking of a curved filler in the back to fill the space, after it is all mounted I will think more about it.  I'm feeling a tad better.

I do want to see pics of the Corbin hardware, however I would be afraid of the price.

http://corbin.com/honda/install_h-v14-bag.pdf

This is the link to the Corbin install instructions, I tried to take pics but unless you know what you are looking at they don't help much. But what I did notice is the mounting is flush with the outside of the fender. On the Champions if you put spacers to hold them out it would work. The mounting is to the front muffler support and the back pass frame rail, then tied across the rear. Cant be that hard to make once you have the idea and maybe you could start with some copper pipe bent to the rough shape you need maybe even to be used as a pattern. Then have someone fabricate it for you.

Not trying to be a smart as but those look nothing like Corbin bags. Can you assemble the stay reverse of what you have pictured. In other words move the spacer, stay ect to the back side of the fender bracket. Hope that makes sense.

I was not trying to be Corbin like moreover I love the Champion look. I know Brian has been through the road blocks with mounting bags to this bike and I know he is leaning twards the Corbin, as I might as well.  I found the bottom can be mounted behind the frame (thick in this part) as well. It will be in further that the OP pics.  Stay tuned, it is a learning process.      cooldude

Hi Jerry,

I like the look of your bags, but I agree that they need to come in closer to the bike.  I have the same problem with my bags.  I made my own bottom bracket, and it is only about 1/2" from the fender.  I like the look of my bags but, my problem is that my bags are so wide that I have almost smacked them on stuff because they are much wider than my handlebars, front radiator pods, etc.  I am not sure how you can over come that using the Honda brackets.  Embarrassed

As for me, I am just waiting to find a deal on a set of used Corbin bags, or if nothing comes up I will just pull the trigger on a new set next winter.  Mine work fine for now.  I just have to remember about the width of my arse. 2funny 2funny

What I meant was I just found the title confusing is all since I expected you to be fitting Corbin's and those looked nothing like Corbin's LOL

The title was out of frustration, meaning just buy the Corbin bags as they are made to fit and forget trying to make bags fit this bike, however I kinda take it back now.  It was directed at Brian as he is contemplating the Corbin bags.  I hope this clears this up?
