I had the PowerCommader installed but left the target AFR map empty so I can learn what stock AFR's are.  These bikes are setup pretty lean.  At cruse, it runs at 14.5 AFR.  14.7 is total fuel burn but most 4 strokes cannot run there becuase the burn is too hot.  If you ask for power, the AFR drops for an instance to about 13.2.  This is the value for best torq on four strokes so this is good.  The problem is that the bike immediality wants to return to the 14.5 setting even if you are still asking for power. I am running wide band O2 sesors so I can get this data.  Today, I will install the map that forces 13.2 AFR at throttle settings above 20 percent.  This produces much more power especially in the mid range.  This bike feels very weak compared to the bike I just put in the junk yard.  But I will leave the cruise range at 14.4 for economy.

The Valk is the most powerful big bike/cruiser made today. I can't think of any other cruiser even highly modified that can compete with it other than a modified gen 1 Valk. The bike you put in the junk yard must have been a sport tourer at minimum in order to make your Valk feel weak in comparison. Stock Goldwing engines have gone hundreds of thousands of miles without rebuilds, the lean burn doesn't scare me at all. I happy with the way mine runs, I am getting up in age though...

Let us not forget the Star V-Max, or the Harley Davidson V-Rod. Very fast bikes.

The Duc Diavel and V-max are not exactly typical cruiser, more street standard, similar to ZRX1200, FZ1, 919... IMO of course. I'll give the Vrod the nod but wish HD would put that motor in a decent chassis.

IMO, The Ducati, Rocket, V-max, and V-Rod are good for small trips around town, but I would never take one on any length of trip.
The Ducati made me feel like I was in the fetal position, the Rocket 3 just hurt my back after only a 1/2 hour, the V-max only has enough fuel for short trips, and the V-Rod has horrible ergonomics for anything, but bar hopping.
Only our Valks fit the bill for me.  Has power, good fuel mileage, sufficient gas tank, and now since I fixed my handlebars it now has good ergonomics.  cooldude

You could fix the ergos on the bikes you listed and maybe have the same results you had with you Valk.

I agree , the bars  gotta change , or , gotta change the bars , seat too.

The V Max ,  uses lots of gas , but , it's fast , gets ya there sooner , makes up for using lots of gas

Great info on the AFR. I've had all bikes mentioned in this thread except the duck. I like the Valk way better, no even close. My favorite bike to date and god knows I've had my share. (and then some)

I wonder how many ponies are gained from 14.5 to 13.2. On some other bikes I've gained 6-8 with AFR adjustments, well the tuner did.

I'm quite sure you'll gain HP with a richer mixture.  Emission standards are tough to meet...  I know with my previous bike I gained noticeable HP by doing this.  I plan on having the ECM modded after the warranty expires.  I want the bike to run as good as it's design will allow without threatening it's dependability/longevity.

Have you ever messed with the auto tune added to the PCV? This sounds to good to be true, You can get you optimum AFR and then set it to stock either in a choosen gear in my case 5th or a certain rpm for stock gas mileage.

The PC only does gas does not handle timing but the ECU mod by Ghul does handle both. To increase mileage and performance both need to be adjusted. Only playing with AF ratios will not get you a whole lot but better than nothing. You may get better mileage if one area is particularly lean and your in that area alot.
