http://www.courant.com/breaking-news/hc-broad-brook-bald-eagle-incident-20160430-story.html

So I pull in the driveway from the airport last night to:  3 East Windsor police cruisers, 2 animal control officers, one CT DEP officer, a slew of neighbors, volunteer fire fighters and rescue personnel

Apparently these eagles were fighting in the sky and locked talons together becoming entangled and falling into the tree right above my garage.  Once the firetruck pulled in and began to extend its ladder they panicked, freed themselves and flew off into the horizon.

We then had to wait for DEP to if the one single feather stuck it the tree would fall to the ground because apparently it’s a federal crime to possess eagle feathers unless you are a Native American.  They have requested that if it does and we find it to call them back.  Jeesh!

What a way to pull in from halfway around the world

Wow that must have been quite a site to see.  The crime of possession of an eagle feather is a left over from the days when bald eagles were a threatened species.  They've recovered nicely but the law is still on the books.

Welcome home!

And here I thought all the excitement would have been on your trip, not your arrival home. Glad you're back safe & sound, and that you were able to convince the eagles that it was in their best interests to make up and fly away home... Can we expect a tweet about this?  2funny

Note to Laura, disband party before Chris gets home. Were the firemen wearing bow ties?
I know but it's after 30 hour flight but still, how cool is that.

Just wondering how many flies you could tie with that ??
