The spring bolt broke and was replaced. Now the spring has no tension. I have noticed that the switch Assy. rotates 45 degree. or so making the spring even looser. I have since replaced both the spring and the switch. 2000 C with  only,7,800 miles. Any help appreciated.

So there is a second smaller spring? Not found  No other spring was shown or offered by Barbers dwgs. Can someone tell me how this second spring attaches?
Thanks

The 97 98 and some 99 models came with the two spring setup. The smaller spring sits inside the larger one.  I have the same on my 99

Thanks WARREN but I'm not seeing the extra spring offered in anyone's parts diagram.
This problem is too simple to make sense. Can anyone recommend a reasonable priced well fitting center stand?

The '97 - '03 Valkyrie was not designed for a center stand.  There are a couple center stands designed for our Valkyries, however there is a high percentage chance of damaging the cross member since it was not designed to support as much weight as you would be asking it to

WTH I've used mine many times with no problem.

As far as the original posters question. Reasonably priced is a matter of opinion. I think I've seen some of them for sale at $300 (but they are used)

Re. the centerstand, the later models that were produced have a stop bolt that restricts the travel and keeps the c/s from twisting the cross member. I've had mine in place for maybe 12 yrs. with no trouble. Just keep it cleaned and lubed. Re. the spring, don't concern yourself with the second smaller spring in the picture, just order the replacement item as listed. If the one you now have installed is loose, you may not have everything assembled correctly, as strong as they are you sure aren't going to stretch it.
