I've my IS, came with a Corbin one piece seat (don't like it, I had actually sold it to the PO), but I had bought a used Ultimate IS set (I think a big boy). My wife doesn't like the passenger seat, as much as she remembers the OEM IS seat, or my more recent GW seats, comfort. Still have the one piece IS seat.

Since I haven't been on a long enough trip yet, I don't know how I'll like the Ultimate driver seat. It's not as comfortable as I remember, but I care more about how I'm going to feel after a 5 hr ride.

So my question.

Most after market seats are 2 pieces. Can I mix and match the driver to passenger seat?

I'm thinking of borrowing the rear Mustang to my driver Ultimate.

Maybe even the OEM rear, to driver Ultimate, from a C or CT model. What year seat is more comfortable/wider?

What ever makes my wife happy when riding.

Yes.  I mix an Ultimate saddle with an OEM pillion primarily because I don't like the increased size of the Ultimate passenger seat that is almost never used (in my case).

I'm a little surprised that your wife dislikes the Ultimate passenger seat.  It is larger and more comfort focused than the OEM and most passenger options.

Successfully mixing and matching pillions may depend on which Ultimate driver seat you have (I'd want to keep it whether low boy or big boy).

An Airhawk passenger pad may make any pillion OK.

Won't really know till we go on a longer ride.

It's been mentioned a sheep skin (I have one), and Air Hawk (I have one), so until we both go for a longer ride, we won't really know. I know hard doesn't mean uncomfortable, so in the end, I expect all will be well.

At least I can bring my OEM IS seat with me in my trailer on a long trip.
