G'day to Everyone!

I have read this forum until my eyes have become cross-eyed looking for information for the 6to6 mods.

I would put photos in this message but I can not work out how to do it?  uglystupid2

I bought her  month ago now, rode her around for the day and clocked up just under 200kms, she popped and farted somewhat, not knowing the service history I tore her right down to lubricate everything that twists and turns and also giving her a good clean and replace all the bodgey/incorrect nuts and bolts with the correct ones, fitted new timing belts only to find that someone had already done this but left the bolts to the right belt tensioner loose.   I was lucky to find this  Smiley

I live in Perth, Western Australia and the bike was made for the Oz market, therefor the main jets are #78 not #100 as in the states, the slow jet is the same at #35.

I have already de-smogged her and plan to leave the jets stock to see how she travels as I only want to make one change at a time to see what the result is, then as stated a million times I will then try the #38 slow jets.

My query is since I have #78 main jets has anyone got a suggestion on what jet I should go up to?   it seems that I can only get #88 on e-bay as the next size up.

The PO had a clever fix, just glue some sheets of green kitchen scourers in the entrance to the air cleaner box, thus restricting the air flow and enriching the mix  uglystupid2

Many years ago I saw a person use those green engine scouring pads as an air filter for a small airplane that he was modifying.  The result was a destroyed engine because of the small rough particles being sucked into the combustion chamber and destroying the normal compression of the engine. You might want to check the compression after first getting rid of those green pads...Jim

Jim beat me to it on the pot scouring pads, I saw the same thing happen to a guy with a fairly new ATV at the time....20 yrs. ago. Ruined the engine by season's end but did give him a nice winter project. When I saw what he had done I tried to talk him out of it, but to no avail. One of those types that always knows best. I later found it rather amusing because he came up with all kinds of excuses even though I never brought up the subject.

If you haven't already..I would adjust the pilot screws . Most say 2-1/2 turns out with Cobras..I have mine at 2-3/4 because I have a Cobra Jet Kit , mine is de-smogged and no de-cel pop at all.Do a Carb sync too!!

Thanks Guys!

My pilot screws were all out 2 turns except for #2 which was only 1 & 3/4 turns out, guess they lost count?

I will put them all to 2 & 1/4 on assembly as the carbs are all sealed up in a plastic bag to keep the dust out until I fit them.

Waiting on some "O" rings for the water pipes going to the thermostat housing, one bolt was seized and tore the thread out of the housing, I bought a good second hand one on e-bay, just waiting, waiting, waiting!

Looking forward to riding her before the wet sets in for the winter.

Best regards, Peter.

Peter,
Will have to check but I should have a set of 100's.
Have messed with the jetting a fair bit, what I could not buy I drilled to the size I wished to trial.
I live in Rockingham.

Have a set of 100's plus a Factory Pro jet kit. It has the 38's and 3 sizes of mains.

Thanks "Blackduck"

I live in Kingsley, North of the river.  have to take a ride down and catch up for a coffee soon.

I am on deaths doorstep with a strain of the common cold, should be at work but at home all week sadly looking at the skeleton of my new Valky on the workshop bench awaiting a handful of "O" rings to complete her birthday.

I do go for a daily ride if the air is warm but I don't want anyone to catch what I am suffering with at the moment.

Happy and safe riding to Everyone, Peter.

G'day to Everyone,

I sandblasted my baffles as they were covered in Carbon deposits and there is plenty of meat left on them so I intend on extending them to double the length in an attempt to quieten them just a little and hopefully give them a little more backpressure.

Proof of the pudding will be in the eating.
