My Cobra pipes have dark blue stains in the header area. I thinkin' they would look better clean and dull than the way they look now... crazy2

You could have them ceramic coated.

My Viking headers are ceramic coated and hold up to long lengths of high temps. High enough that while syncing my carbs my alternator cover melted.
I don't mind the semi gloss of the ceramic. I would have preferred chrome, but I know I wouldn't have like blue/black.

I don't have any blue on either of my Valks' exhaust.

But I understand that a good way to remove it is to use [any] good metal polish with 0000 steel wool.  Do not use brillo.   You will ruin the pipes.

Blue on exhaust pipes is oxidation of the chrome plating and any removal of the blue will encompass removing of the chrome plating to some degree.

Use of abrasives (chemical or other) is the only recourse to remove the blue.

Keep in mind that in removing some of the chrome plating, the thickness of the plating will become less, exposing the pipes to possible rusting of the base layer.

At a minimum, the chrome will become dulled.

Stock headers are doubled walled thereby essential eliminating bluing.
It's the single wall aftermarket chrome headers that turn.

I've heard good things about a product called BLUE JOB. You can get it online or at Hardley dealerships.Last time I looked it was $12. Good luck.
