Yep it happened to me. My first cruise down the freeway doing 75-80 all of a sudden it felt a little extra breezy around the midsection. Flipping shirt blown up around my chest. Really!! Not a good look   2funny
Do all Interstates have this buffering problem? Is that why the Baker Wings are so popular?
It was a turbulent pocket of air between me and my shield. Any help/advice.

Advice:  Don't wear traditional Scottish garb while riding your Interstate.  Instead of a shirt, wear a onesie.

That happened to my wife riding with me on our former Wing. We're tooling down the street and this old guy kept honking at us and my wife just smiled and waved. Finally he pointed to her top and flipped his t-shirt up, she looked down and realized her blouse was blown up near her chin and keeping the "girls" cool. We were next to each other at the next light and she told him that would cost him a quarter, we have to pay for the bike somehow. The old fella laughed and so did we. And my wife tucked her blouse in after that.  2funny

i have the baker wings on my IS, no trouble with wind. they are nice to have for directing the air for cooling you off, and blocking the rain when mother nature decides to cool things down.

Fairing and fork wings would help.

Otherwise, tuck your shirt in.

The deflectors are missing on your fairing. But I have the same thing happen on either my standard or IS. Let's see out in the wide open no cage around you and running 75 Yep you will have some wind  coolsmiley

Get a pair of fairing deflectors from Attic Rat.

The Baker air wings work, but they may also crack your radiator pods. I had to repair my pods due to the deflection of the BAW's, and I prefer the OEM style fairing deflectors (looks wise).

Tying fishing weights rather than fork deflectors to the bottom of your shirt might be less awkward.  uglystupid2  If the fabric is thin, you could use these:

Yes I think those will work better. I've used the 12 oz. weights before, but they hurt a lot.  Smiley

G'day to Everyone!

I have a "Goatie" about 6" long,  with the 200km that I did on my Valky when I first got her all I could see was my Goatie flapping about in front of my eyes.  Might have to start plaiting it to keep it down.  Grin

I don't have this problem riding my 1500 around, it flaps about but does not obstruct my vision.

I am still (impatiently) waiting for a handful of "O" rings for the water works to get the Valky back on the road  tickedoff

Happy & Safe riding to All, Peter.

I had a longer goatee for a while, but got tired of tasting my last meal (soup) all day.

Other things too.

Could someone post a pic of the OEM fairing deflectors? Where to buy them. Nothing came up on google. The bike came with a set of baker wings but they were all very rusty and looked horrible so I took them off. Maybe I could paint the chrome black and see how I like them. Not crazy about the look of them though. I have little chrome fork deflectors you can see in my pic.  Pics of your fork deflectors would be great!  Thanks!

Here's a pic of the Hondaline Wings with Waynes World Dragon Covers, I painted the back of the plastic "wings" black to give more contrast

Both of these parts are now considered Unobtanium.

Here's a link to Big Bike Things, they make an aftermarket set of wings and with a small upcharge you can order them with holes to add lights.

G'day Guys!

Yes a "Goatee" is my thin beard on my chin, although it got a fair bit thinner yesterday  Angry

I am slowly getting my Valky back together (still waiting on the "O" rings)

I noticed on the first day of ownership that there is a bolt missing on the alternator, so I decided to see if the top bolt is the same length required by screwing it in the vacant hole, but to my surprise there was still a bolt in there or what was left of it  Shocked

Pulled the alternator out hoping there was still enough thread sticking out to get a hold of, and yes, there was about 3 threads sticking out.

It took over 2 hours to get out, she was seized in there real good, I used penetrating oil and a large pair of Vice Grips to get a good tight hold, but in the excitement of the moment I seemed to grab a wad of my goatee as well and tore it out of my chin  tickedoff  .......... That hurt!

But got the bolt end out  cooldude

So my turbulent wind problem is now only half as bad. Smiley

You'll understand once you start riding hundreds of miles in a day...

Besides, we're discussing controlling the wind, not stopping it.

I feel the same however I DO ride hundreds of miles a day. About the only time wind was an issue was in Nebraska and Wyoming when I was having to lean into the wind as if I were cornering to stay in a straight line 2funny

Yet I see a fairing, windshield and lowers so you, like the OP and myself, are attempting to control the amount of wind we're being hit with.  The only difference is the OP and I don't want the shirt-lifting turbulence at the front of our bodies, this is controlled with the fork wings.

I found fairing air deflectors by Attic Rat here has made some and selling them for $69.95 shipped.
There was a set of Baker Wings on the bike when I bought it. I took them off right away cause they were very rusty and like like hell. Maybe I'll put them back on. If I like them I'll paint the chrome try to make them look better.

Some are bike specific, some aren't (like Memphis Shades, National Cycle, and other windshield outfits that sell them as universal fits).  I believe all the bike specific ones bolt up under the triple tree and go on as a single unit, with a bar going across the front just under the tree (yes each wing could come off individually).  The universals clamp on each fork/side and you are on your own for clearance (like from the windshield or IS fairing).
