Hi guys,
Been around the board for many years. Had to store my '98 Tourer for two years due to a knee injury. Just getting her back on the road. Have done all the fluid changes etc. and she's running at 95%. Now, I need new tires. Pulled the rear wheel last night and found the Moly that I had put in a few years back (refer to two year storage above) has leaked out. At that time, I changed all three O-rings.
In the meantime, I had a rear blow out on the road and was forced to get a new rear tire at a stealer. Besides the fact that they installed the tire on the incorrect direction, I don't know what, if anything else they did wrong.
I purchased a new set of O-rings from Rich @ Ecrater and plan on installing them when the tire goes back on. Any thought on the Moly leakage here in the pic? Will installing the new O-rings correct this? At least the splines aren't dry!!
Thanks
Jim

Yeah, totally normal. If you put just the slightest extra amount of grease on the splines, it will seep past the o-ring, then you get the runout that you see. Mostly from pushing the o-ring into the spline. No big deal, except for the mess you see. Better too much than too little cooldude

Agree with everyone else. Plus it's nice to see a pic of good splines for a change.  cooldude

And don't forget to change out your tire valve.

Jake Wilson 90' metal valve stem (my link isn't working, site down?)
