Wanted a vertical mount for the license plate but Fla. law is quite vague so went with horizontal. Had time to mess with the 1200 today and stay out of my wife's hair, two birds with one stone. I used some scrap SS sheet I had and cut the backing plate, then drilled and shaped best I could, darn stuff is tough to work with. It has a peel off covering on one side and is rather shiny underneath. I used some small angle iron(1/8" thick), cut and drilled it to mount to the same tab the fender brace attached to. It's 1/8" metal I welded to the sw/arm and is quite stout. I then drilled for the light mount, sucker is bright....especially in brake mode and has the white lights out the bottom for the lic. plate illumination. In the second picture I have a piece of thin cardboard used for sizing up a possible second brace. Thinking of attaching it to the lower shock mount, that bolt is about 5/8" so should handle it. I just don't want excess vibration to snap the front mount, with the horizontal mount the weight is sticking out a ways. After all is satisfactory, I'll pull it all apart and paint the brackets to match the frame and sw/arm, the backing plate I'll just pull off the cover and polish it. At the moment I'm debating about just riding the darn thing and see how much vibration the mount actually gets. Any thoughts pro/con are welcome. Next will be the turn signals. In back I want some three ways....run/turn/brake. I have a digital speedo/tach combo coming in a couple days. Once wired in and mounted I'll be able to get rid of those huge ugly gauges the bike came with.

Location of possible second brace. I'd have to give it a 90 deg. twist so it would lay flat against the back of the backing plate.
