I can't get my key to turn to unlock the steering.  Any suggestions on how to get it to turn or to remove the lock.

If the steering is pressing against it, it will be very hard to turn; try putting a hand on the grip, and try to move the forks to ease the pressure.

I assume the key goes in all the way but won't turn.

Don't get mad.  I've heard of this happening before but...  are you SURE you are using the correct key? ???

Okay. That being said.  Remove the key and spray WD-40 into the keyhole.  Next, insert the key and move in and out a few times to lube the wafers inside.  Then insert completely - make sure the handlebars are not keeping it bound up - turn the key.

Hopefully none of the wafers in the lock are broken or bent. Cry

Good luck. cooldude

I would only use a graphite lubricant in a lock. Something where the liquid carrier evaporates completely, not leaving an oily residue to attract dirt.

I put my little Givi top case on the 1800 the other day, getting
ready for a long week+ ride to InZane. The key wouldn't turn.
I did just as described above. It didn't work right away, but it
worked. I had to fiddle with it and put more WD down in there
over several days.
