"AN APEX IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE"

Robertsville, MO

« on: May 30, 2016, 09:27:44 AM »

In my best Rocky voice : uglystupid2  I put the new shoes on last night and plan on scrubbing them in a bit today. It's a no wonder the bike turns faster since the back tire looks like a scooter tire now tickedoff

Guess I will be going up to a 190\55-17 on the next one if I like them.

Dont think the change to the 190 will do that much just put some miles on them.

Tires                              180/55/17        190/55/17           differences
Diameter inches (mm)         24.8 (629.8       25.23 (640.8       0.43 (11) 1.7%
Width inches (mm)         7.09 (180)       7.48 (190)       0.39 (10) 5.6%
Circum. inches (mm)         77.9 (1978.58)  79.26 (2013.13)   1.36 (34.56) 1.7%
Sidewall Height inches (mm)    3.9 (99)       4.11 (104.5)       0.22 (5.5) 5.6%
Revolutions per mile (km)  813.39 (505.41)   799.42 (496.74)   -13.96 (-8.68) -1.7%

Here is the site that you can compare tire sizes its a pretty good site and easy to use and even give an illustration on tire sizes. Another nice thing is they do the calculation on speed differences in the tires.

I really hate to echo Adrian's feelings about these darn Michelins, but OMG Evil These things really transform the bike. I know they are new but they perform better than I thought they would after my last experience with Michelins.

Braking into corners is drama free unlike the Dunlops that did not like to turn on the brakes. They just feel planted in corners. You feel like the turn unlike feeling like you are making the turn. Bar input is minimal as I suspected would be the case since they are borrower than the stock tires.

Will have to put a GPS on the bike so that I can verify how far off the speedo is.

I'm running these tires, my GPS & speedometer are dead on.  cooldude

This is the first bike I've owned (50yrs. of riding) that isn't optimistic a few mph..

Cool!!!!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner... I am working 6 days a week now.. uglystupid2  I hate it... Have an interview with a great opportunity this week man...Hope all goes well... My current job blows...lol

Anyway, yeah D/Slayer...the Michys really turn the bike into a sort of sport touring machine...even in gravel they stay put (within reason)..

They TOTALLY blow away the stock Dunlops...and for any rider out there on the new Valk whom has yet to try them, has no clue how much better the bike performs... cooldude

Excellent dude!  Yeah, my old lady hated my bike with the Dunlops...but with the Michys...all disdain has vanished...  She, as well as myself, not only like the improved ride characteristics...but feel safe now while riding..
