After a very good trip to Alabama (amazing how much more fun that trip is on two wheels...), I made it back home this evening.  I didn't expect to get home this early, but my co-workers told me I could get a head start, so I left early enough to do it all in one day.  When the sky opened up on me in Louisiana, I considered finding a place to tie off to before I floated away, but then I got to thinking:
The 750 mile trip isn't a full iron butt run, it's more like a 3/4 butt.  If I stop here, it wouldn't even be 3/4, it would definitely be half-assing it.
So, I continued on.  I got home about an hour ago.  Stephanie doesn't know I'm home yet.  She's out with my family, and should be walking through the door any minute now.  This will be fun.  (:

It was a good run, but it was interstate the whole way, in order to get in before I got too tired.  That, and I had to pull over several times till the rain cleared enough to see past the front wheel.
After I pulled over, as I was waiting, someone rolled his car right at the exit I had just taken.  I guess I made a good choice.

The trip up was very good, but I've already posted about that.  The stay up there was good too, including a trip to the tail of the dragon, and the Cherehola Skyway.  Both very good roads.  There are a lot more good roads up there I want to try.  Maybe next time, I can bring Stephanie with me.

Sounds like a great ride.  Happy to read nothing about alternator problems.

I was thinking the same thang, Mark, when I read the other Mark's ride report - no mention of alternator woes! Thats a good thang!

I hope that surprise homecoming worked out the way it should have. I thought I would do that one time a couple of lifetimes ago. Five police cars later and a naked guy (turned out to be a special ops naked guy) in bed with... well, you get the idea. Not funny yet, but thought I would share just for the therapy aspect. ~Jeff

No need to worry, Jeff. I left the house before Rocketman got home.  Grin

Because Rainmanmaker has impeccable timing  Wink, my homecoming was much more pleasant than yours was.  The alternator survived (closing in on 4000 miles, a new record!), I found two blondes who were very happy to see me (there's nothing that's better for the ego than seeing how much your child missed you), and it only took two days for my boots to dry.
All in all, a good homecoming.
