Got my tank back from the painter. Nice job. The various guides online talk about removing the fuel gauge sending unit. Discovered there is no reason I can find for removing the sending unit or the wiring. I just coiled the the wiring and zip tied it. Did find that the gas cap chrome surround from the tourer does not conform well to the bigger tank. The filter/screen in the outlet from tank are interchangeable and the local Tacoma Screw had a "O" ring that worked. Also discovered that the previous owner install a K&N filter. Explains why the screws and bushings were damaged. Will install the interstate trunk and hard bags later.

The gas cap & surround are the same parts for the Tourer, Standard, and the Interstate tanks. Years ago when I put an I/S tank on my Tourer it was simply a matter of two screws to remove and reinstall it.
