I sold my 1998 Valkyrie C model in 2006(ish) and started riding Harleys.  During those Harley years I had to trailer home a few times, stranded out on the road.  Busted my knuckles a whole bloody lot.  But, due to a twist of fate I'm back on a Valkyrie Interstate.  I didn't hate my Electraglide.  In fact, I very much enjoyed it, when it would start.  At 52 I think I'll stay with Honda from this point on.  When or, if I wear out this Valkyrie I'll get a Goldwing.

I was on this, or the old board some years ago.  The Valkyrie rides so much better than my Electraglide did.  The power out on the interstate is just wonderful.  At 80 my Harley was breathing hard.  The Valkyrie is just cruising with plenty left in the throttle.  That issue alone makes hours out on the interstate so much easier.  For sitting comfort it's probably a dead heat.  The HD was comfortable.  The stereo on the Valk Interstate is maybe, slightly better, maybe.  The Interstate feels like it cuts through the wind better.  The Valkyrie eats up the curves better than the HD.  The HD wasn't terrible, for a touring bike.  But, the Valk is better.  At slow speed the HD was better.  Above crawling the valkyrie is better.  On the HD I mounted my own tires.  I suspect that I'll have to let someone else do that for the Valkyrie.  Those wheels are huge.

Welcome back. The Valkyrie (if you remember) has certain procedures that must be followed. The rear has O-rings (3) and grease should be changed out during a tire change. Check the bearings while your there. The rear top shock bushings like to wear out too, use VTX bushings. The front wheel must be centered properly in the forks when reinstalling it so as the rotors are centered in the calipers. It’s not as hard as it sounds.
I’m a proud owner of a 2001 black interstate myself.

I have a beautiful 98 tourer jade green & blk now but almost sold it a few years back. All my life i wanted a Harley so back in 2012 i bought a brand new ELECTRA GLIDE with all the bells & whistles paid cash for it also. Put several thousand in it exhaust cam's seats you know all the goodies. Buy the way it still ran hot. But i won't bash Harley they  are a great bike. I sold it after having it only one year. It was just not for me. I could of had 3 new valk's for what i had in the Harley. I came so close to selling my valkyrie right after i bought the Harley but ia'm so glad it still in my garage it would have been a fatal mistake. Oh by the way the reason i did not sell it was because the wife said you are absolutely not selling the Valkyrie. I'am so glad i still have it. By far it is the best bike i have ever owned in my life. Moral of story is listen to your wife.

Been there done that but never thought of selling my Valk. Bought a street glide and rode it for two years. It was a good bike for one person, when my wife was riding in it with me it was too cramped. Wife hated it and wanted to take the fat girl every time we rode. Sold it with zero regrets and still riding the VALK I bought knew and have added an IS to keep it company 2funny

Thanks for all the welcome backs.  I rode about 700-750 miles Friday - Saturday.  Ran amazing.  I was ready for a break when I got home yesterday evening though.  The bike was comfortable but, it was hotter than the hinges of hell out on the interstate.

Valk's don't like SLOW so much. Smiley

I change out all my own tires, it can be a chore, but ain't too bad.

You are right about the speed thing.  Valkyries do speed really well.
