Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting the passenger backrest... I didn't want to install one, but for soft luggage reasons I do believe I need to. I thought about just the bracket and the luggage rack, but, I like the thought of some of the bags you can also use as a drivers backrest....

If there was a big enough seat bag, I might consider that, but, I need enough room for a week or so if needed.

And I don't want to go to expense this year for side bags....

The lines with no backrest is so nice...

But honestly, how do you who have a passenger backrest like it and the looks?

I guess if you change your under britches every Saturday night you can get away with one little bag to last a week. I have the rack with a removable top box and OEM saddle bags. It looks great with box off. You can find a cheap box and it would work with a bag on the rear seat to act as a Riders backrest, then you would have more dry storage. and not have to buy the upright and back pad. The box would cost less than the OEM upright and pad.

Thats one of the reasons when I bought my Corbin seat I bought the backrest with the opening in the middle. I regularly have to tie things on the pass seat and having the backrest with the hole in the center makes if very convenient to loop bungees to. The other thing I Have found that really works well is the elastic cargo net. On smaller things it works perfectly when fastened to the passenger hand holds and the over the backrest and then latches on to the back of the passenger hand holds. Anything that is on the seat it holds securely and I have no fear of loosing it. If you could get a bigger one I think it may work well.

I have had some pretty big items on my bike without problems with the cargo net over the top and if the package needed to be a bit more secure then bungees through the back rest. At first I bought mine as a whim and didn't see how great it would work but after using it a bit I wouldn't be without it. Mine stores small, holds a lot securely, lightweight, easy to use it had plastic hooks on it that I took off since I didnt want to scratch the paint. That is also another great thing you dont have to worry about scratching the paint.

The passenger hand holds make the perfect thing to attach the bungee to. It catches on the ends easily and securely and looped over the seat and backrest holds anything on the seat securely.

Bungee nets are amazing, i have half a dozen and every year I go on a ride where one of the bingo prizes is usually a net so I tend to get a new one once a year.

I got new tires 2 weeks ago (won a bidding war on that same ride, 400 for 2 tires) and the stocks still have plenty of life on them so I kept them. When I picked up the bike I was asked if I was going to come back for the old tires and I told them I would just take them with me, 3 nets later and I was off.

Anyway for storage I installed a locking LeatherLyke hard trunk. Look for my post to check it out.
