Ok so I am trying to figure out to connect my phone to my hardwired headset. While I know about edsets and J&M Corp, but I think I have a solution but want to hear what other people think. At the moment I have a 5 Pin Din headset and wanted to split the cable with ...

and then connecting one to my headset and the other to my phone through a 3.5mm Jack

Would this work to send and receive sound from my phone (such as making a call)

When I have my phone connected with the 3.5 Jack I can only listen to music. I think you have to use Bluetooth to make calls.

I do not believe it is possible to send and receive through the 3.5mm jack (if it is, this in new technology that I am unaware of, but there is a LOT of new technology I am unaware of). The 3.5mm jack has three wires: 1) left output, 2) right output, 3) ground. There is no possibility of a mike input.

If you read the ebay description, it is for a 3.5mm stereo output into a 5 pin din input. What you are trying to accomplish is a 5 pin din output to a 3.5mm stereo input.

If you look at the ebay diagram, you will see that the 5 pin din uses only three of the pins.

[Because I am posting the photo from the ebay ad, it may dissappear at any time.]

EDIT: After giving this a little more thought, I will slightly retract my above statements. I believe the iphone headset (earplugs) include a controller that can change volume on the iphone and maybe even FF or REV. Obviously, the three wires do more than simply provide stereo output. I still do not believe the three wires can add mike input, but I have been wrong before.

You need a 4 connection 3.5mm jack plug like this one https://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Repair-headphone-Soldering-Spring/dp/B00LBPKSNW?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 the extra contact is for the mike.

As stated there are other versions of the 3.5 MM jacks for doing what you need.  Look over at the Goldwing forums.  There are schematics of what you want over there.  Many are now tossing out the wired connection and going wireless via Bluetooth.  Sena is coming out (July or later) with a new multiplexer that connects directly with a Harley or Goldwing electronics giving the rider full control over the audio system (CB included).

In goldwingdoc.com there is a mod of taking a Bluetooth ear piece, and wiring it into the bike intercom system.
