I've had my Austone Taxi tire on for four weeks, and have ridden some 800 miles. I love the ride, performance and decreased RPMs. However, as I began doing some recent runs with the wife aboard, the tire began to scrape the inside of the fender, right along the front edge of the metal "bulge" that protrudes into the fender behind the taillight.
I adjusted the shock (a full 13 inch stock set) to the firmest setting, but we still scrape on any dip in the road. Now, we are no light weights. (I'm 230, she's 175) So, my question is: Can I simply bang in that bulge about a half inch, or, is there too much wiring and mounted connections that would be damaged? And, if this is not possible, what would be my best shock options to solve this problem? We plan to start a weight loss challenge, but I know that it might take a year, or two, or maybe more...to reach our goals.
Thanks, as always , for any help and suggestions.     Mike in New York

If you go to "shoptalk" you'll fine your fix under nut cage mod. Some bikes require the mod some don't, you can try u-tube for a video of the work too. Good luck and safe riding.

I think he's referring to the box on the underside of the fender. The plug in for the lights is in there, I don't think you will be able to smash it down much. It's pretty tight already. Be careful there have been guys that have torn the whole kit and kaboodle out by the tire bottoming on it. I think your best option would either be stiffer shocks or possibly rewiring the plug in with maybe bullet connectors and cutting off the box.

Do a search in the tech section for washer mod.... mine was rubbing and I left the nut cage alone and did the fender washer mod, no longer rubs.
