Since we have not had many meetings with a large turnout. I would like to open nominations for the offices of President and Vice President. We shall consider this the "primaries" we should have at least 2  nominees  for each office.

On or around July 4th I will put up a poll for all DFW members to vote with the poll closing July 13th and the new President and VP can host the inauguration meeting on July 14th (2nd Thursday of July).

Lets also post suggestions for where to have the July meeting. I'm going to suggest Hard 8 BBQ in the Colony next door to Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Let's move a little more central, maybe.  Fuddruckers in Grapevine and La Hacienda Ranch by the airport always seem to draw well.

Fuddruckers usually has a large group, but maybe we need to go further east as our center has moved that way over the years.  I'm good with any of the choices since I don't mind riding.

Perhaps our active center has moved that way, but I feel like we may be creating a self-fulfilling situation by mostly having our meetings central to east.  There was some recent interest in the west from newcomers, that has since died away.

Fair enough.

So let's see

Who's coming to the July meeting on July 14th?  Where do you live?

I'm going - I live in North Arlington.

Meetings along the DNT and 75 corridors have, since I've been in this group, been better attended than any other location.  I like the Hard 8 suggestion and anything further than Grapevine is too far west for me to attend.

The Houdini clan plans on attending.

I posted a link to this thread on the Facebook VRCC page.  Maybe will stir some interest...

(Personally, I don't get the Facebook thing.  Seems a poor substitute for a discussion forum format.)

ok, I'm going to assume that there has been no nominations because everyone (most) were out of town at Inzane. Hopefully we'll get some nominations going this week.

Ok, ya'll should be back home now, Is no one interested in leading this group? Shall we just start randomly jumping in to suggest meeting places and wrench parties? Sort of like this last year accept without  a figure head to blame!

Someone speak up! take charge! Or even better ambush a buddy and nominate them for office!

Ok, Plenty of People reading this post, but no one wants to step up and reply to if they will attend let alone  nominate someone else!

So I have 2 votes for Hard 8 BBQ and 2 votes for Fudruckers. If no one is going to step up and make a suggestion on where to have the meeting then I'm going to go with Hard 8 BBQ on 121 across from the Nebraska furniture mart.

I will be stepping down at this meeting. Since no one wants to step up and nominate them selves or throw someone under the bus, we will have to just  go without leadership.

Does Hard 8 have a meeting room that can be reserved?  Most of them don't.  If you don't have my vote, it is for Fuddruckers.

I was counting you as one of the two for Fudruckers, Chuck and I for Hard 8, and as the current figurehead I'm choosing to break the tie.

But that is the point of my post, if others want to go to Fudruckers, then they need to POST! AND IF THEY WANT LEADERSHIP NEED TO VOLUNTEER or throw someone under the bus and nominate them!

Having served 3 times as an officer, I can say that the office of president of the group as we view it today isn't a tough job, folks.  You have to organize the meeting - when, where, etc.  The when is always the 2nd Thursday of the month and time is 7:00-9:00PM.  So the where is the trick - and if you ask for recommendations, you will usually get a few replies as to a place to try.  If not, pick one yourself and declare the meeting.  At the dinner, regurgitate what you read about on the forum.  If events like rides or charity events are coming up, others will be there to speak.  It doesn't take a lot of time - it's not hard to do without a treasury, agenda, etc.  Speedo and I are organizing rides again so you don't even have to do that.

Of those I see pretty often, I think that Valkpilot, Disco, Houdini, Speedo and myself are not nominatable due to our previous service.  Until it's gone around to all, there should be no re-elections.

So, let's hear it.  I nominate Planecrazygal - we'll beat the national elections and vote in the first woman president!  I nominate Timbo to be Vice President, since he has to do what Jackie says the rest of the time anyway.

We'll be there at Fuddruckers but we'll have to talk about me taking on a third year as an officer.  I nominate Liz to be the first woman prez! And since her hubby has already been an officer, I nominate Dave Barron as VP!

While I have voted for Fuddruckers, I won't be there - I'll be in Cincinnati at a ventriloquist convention with my bride.  Not that I'll learn anything - I'm just going along to help her drag her stuff for her classes.

Jackie, after being VP, you are the logical choice.  Please run for President.

Once people accept nominations, please post them so that those not in attendance can send their vote to Les.  Or declare that you must be present to vote.

I want this club to continue.

Thanks for the nomination as VP  Smiley but I cannot accept it because I am an officer in the Southern Cruisers and they won't allow it  Sad.

I had a business conflict arise so I won't be there tonight.  But I've had a smoky-back-room discussion with certain parties and I'm hereby nominating Big Ed for the VP spot on the ticket.

The second Thursday of the month is the 14th, or next week Thursday.
I assume we are talking about the Fuddruckers next to BassPro.
This will be my first meeting in a long time, I look forward to meeting old and new faces.
I second electing the proposed Valk aficionados.
See you on Thursday

Meeting is confirmed at Fuddruckers on Thursday.  The Miata club took the usual room but the manager has assured me that he had an alternative for us.

Mr Rainmaker sir, your confidence in me is much-appreciated, but I will be needed to care for my mom post-surgery soon so I have to bow out this time.  Let's see some newer blood in office this year.  If you want to create a new flow for this chapter, BECOME AN OFFICER.

Since this will be my last time to run the 50/50, let's make it a really good one! See you all there!

Sorry work obligations are keeping me from attending tonight.

Also, I am currently the Treasurer for LAMA (Latin American Motorcycle Association) which means I can't hold a post anywhere else.

I am however available to assist in an unofficial capacity. Thanks

After far too much diet coke with lime, I jumped at the chance to take over the reins of the Presidency.  After the votes were tallied and hanging chads sorted, they explained I was not the new POTUS (we have to continue to put up with Hillary and the Donald), but I was the new POTVRCCDFW (or POTDFWVRCC).   They also explained that there is no jet aircraft or armor plated Valkyrie that comes with the office.

By the way, my platform speech involved an increase in BBQ, pie and exercise of our 2nd Amendment rights during the next year.  Count on those three things.

Because I drank all the diet coke, no one at the table was quite as energetic about the VP post and we are working behind the scenes at the convention to fill that post.

More to come...
