Are you talking about #3 under "fairing"?

$160.00 +\-

Plus shipping 1/2 way round the world.

It's never cheap to ship a light but big box, with a tiny plastic in it.

For your distance, I expect it to be minimum 400 USD , when I compare to the cost when I purchased that and had it delivered to Belgium...
Or am I still way off?

Yep.  Way off.  Aud$1150.....850US.  And annoyingly these are local prices not shipped to me.  I would guess these are not shipped as such but containered in bulk.

Other prices are just as bad regardless of size.  $120 for the radiator fan switch etc

Thnakfully not needed ATM.  I was looking for other stuff and was so shocked by prices I atarted to check stuff out.

I priced polycarbonate sheet and making my own would save hundreds.  Be interesting as well.

Nick,
Would be checking with Eagle screens, they make a lot of standard screens.
Think you use ballistic Acrylic for screens.
Trying to convince a mate into making screens, he has the oven and tools for doing skylights.
Just need a former to mould the screen.
I just use Tridon switches if I need to replace one, a lot cheaper than Honda.

Hey Steve. People do use impact modified acrylic, but Lexan is more flexible and easier to work (bend, cut) and still has better shatter resistance AFAIK. For a given thickness it will flex more in the wind, of course, but dishing it helps a lot there. The screen I have has no compound curve, just bent in the vertical plane by the mountings.

I don't actually need a screen. The price of a Kilobuck was just a bit of a jolt.

I am looking at a batwing fairing, sans screen,....(a cheap Chinese knock-off and I will be interested to  see the finish etc) and I would probably enjoy making my own screen for it.

Just checked out Eagle. The screen they have is a LOT sexier than what I have and does need compound curves. $280 bux is good value too. They use much thicker acrylic as well.

$1,150?!! That's crazy.

My screen (stock screen on a Tourer) is starting to delaminate in places so I'll be needing a new one soon.

Sounds like I WONT be getting a genuine one!

Check out Eagle as Blackduck sez. From what I can see I have the standard Valk screen (bent piece of plastic, no moulding) and Eagle have a really sweet alternative for $280 (?) bux.You _may_ need to arrange mountings, but they talk about the mounting points matching. Worth checking out and asking them.

BTW delaminating? Be interested in photos to show what you mean.

I don't have any pics at the moment, but if you look closely at the screen, it appears as if a layer is peeling off. A very thin layer. Possibly something that was sprayed on. Perhaps an anti glare layer or something?? It might be a Honda thing, because I've noticed the screen on my Dads ST1300 doing the same thing.

Sure its not just an anti scratch layer that is really tough?
