I put some baker air wings on my interstate some yrs ago. I noticed last summer that the pods had craked right where they bolt on. I had some plastic spacers in there to copy the actual pod screws shape. I figured that was the problem and ordered some stainless steel spacers the same size. I bought another set of pods and bolted the bakers on with the new spacers. on the way home from inzane I noticed that the right pod is cracked, damn it!
how are they supposed to be put on without cracking the pods? ???

I've had mine on for quite a few years with no cracking. When first installed I placed some large chrome star washers under each mounting spot, they come with a pad underneath. I can take a picture if you like, lets you see them better. I did the same thing under the rack I mounted on the trunk lid, helps spread the pressure. Also....don't tighten them down like a head bolt, same thing goes for the three pod mounting bolts. If you really take them to more than just snug, the pods will crack around the holes.

mine have been on there for over a year now no cracking. maybe one difference is I put everything on and snugged it up--it is all rubber mounted--and then I have Loctite on every fastener
