alright, i guess everyone has their questions on this at some point.   here's mine.  when removing the metal air lines to jb weld them, i was hoping to re-use the gaskets off of the bottom two.  not gonna happen.  they were toast.  rather than wait for two new gaskets to come in, i was thinking of trying permatex gasket maker.  i know it's used by some folks on ace 750's when they work on their clutch and have to put the cover back on.  anyone see a problem with using it for this?

i think i have a handle on all the tubing.  i suppose i'll know for sure when i fire it up.  i'd have probably freaked if there had not been so much good info on here.  thanx to all of you.

I used some gasket maker stuff. It came out blue. It has worked well on the lower tubes. I freeze plugged the top ones.

I had the same problem. I used high temp RTV, the red stuff. It's been working for 3 years, so far so good.

my understanding is that there is no performance benefits.  it does cut down on the possibilities of vacuum leaks, which can be a pain to find.   also, it gets rid of that snap, crackle, pop you hear on deceleration, especially with aftermartket exhaust.

Yeah, what he said. Plus it cleans up the top of the engine, for
those that are interested. cooldude
