OK,  Im stranded here in Malta Mt.   Clutch started grinding & had to keep a load on the engine...but it got worse.   Im guessing the problem would be that double clutch plate with the revits.   Need to wait until tomorrow morn to check with a honda dealer in Glaskow Mt...40 mi down the road.   Will have it towed...dont think I should drive it any farther.   Want to tell the guy that this probably the problem.   Hope he has time & parts.   Need to get back to Naperville Il.
Any thoughts or suggestions? ??

Sounds like you could have a pinion cup issue.  Clutch rivets symptoms usually entail the lever being spongy and the clutch engaging differently than normal.

Clutch started  having problems from 4th to 5th and then got worse.   Gears would grind a little when I tried to shift.   It sounds like the rivets  are loose in the clutch basket.   Gets really loud.   I maintain my bike well  and everything is greased.    I pulled my clutch 30k ago and replaced the riveted plate even though I didnt really need it.  Have just spent the past week riding the mtns and pulling a trailer.

Well it's entirely possible that it's the clutch. But if I was to wager on it at this point I'd think the pinion cup. Or u-joint. Is the clutch lever feeling weird ? How does it act taking off from a stop ?

Starts off in 1st just fine& 2nds ok but as I build speed  and try to shift it starts the grinding noise, however, when I was riding I had to be speeding up or slowing down to keep a load on the drive shaft or it would make a racket.   Couldnt just coast.  Clutch lever feels ok.
