Does anyone know if a stock seat (OEM) from a '98 Valk Standard (GL1500) should fit onto a '98 Tourer? I'm trading seats between two Valks and having considerable difficulty getting the front of the driver's seat from the Standard to snap into place on the Tourer. Just wondering if I need to do any modification to the mount. Thanks

Yep, should be exactly the same. The design changed around 2000, but the mounting was still the same and all seats interchangeable.

The Interstates are slightly different (not only due to the two piece seat) due to the larger gas tank. If one puts an Interstate gas tank on a Standard or Tourer, the seat will be tight.

As stated, the I/S tank will make it fit tighter in front. Check to see if(or you may already know) you have an I/S tank. The Std. seat will fit, just takes a little persuasion for a while. After a period of riding the seat will sorta reform to the new shape since your weight will also be on it. Won't happen in a day or two, generally takes a few weeks for it to fit in place easily.

Thank you all... I found the problem- there was a large rubber grommet stuck in the rear slot, where the tongue from the seat slides in. Must have been from a previous seat. Once I removed the grommet, the seat fit very nicely.  Thanks again.

That may very well have been stuck in there to quiet a squeaky seat.
