So this is kind of another dumb one sorry, but I banked hard left today and I think hit a bump as I was leaning over and heard something scrape – what was it? I looked underneath afterwards and couldn't see any scrape marks on my foot pegs or anything else except maybe the kickstand? I have a stock 98 tourer and the only thing aftermarket is my highway pegs which don't have any scrape marks yet. I wonder if the bump made the kickstand drop down and hit asphalt for a split second?

The rider footpegs SHOULD hit first, but depending on aftermarket gear, condition, length and settings of the shocks, and types of tires and air pressure... it can vary frome bike to bike |

My bad I meant rider as the one riding the bike as opposed to passenger footpegs |

Your stand did not drop down (unless your spring failed or was rubbed off, then it would stay down).
Maybe the cross member the stand is bolted to, they will get rubbed by speed bumps or high manhole covers or big dips in the road at speed with mediocre shocks.
I rub all the time. If things don't fall off, I don't worry about it. (and I carry a spring-stud replacement for my kickstand).

well not too worried just curious. and it scraped lightly whatever was as opposed to my other bike when the floor boards scrape it scares the crap out of me  |

I scraped twice yesterday, both times it was right side foot pegs,(i hate it when that happens). They are Kuryakyn and might stick out a little farther than stock. If it was your foot peg you would hear and feel it. Maybe hitting the bump caused your tire to rub the fender.  Hope you find what scraped/ rubbed. |

that's a good point about feeling it I did not feel my left foot Peg scraping, and I don't see any scrape marks on it either. I wonder if you're right if it was something other than scraping on asphalt?

no I have stock shocks, but I'm beginning to wonder if they need to be replaced, and running a motorcycle tire, stock size
