I bought a used Mustang seat (Thanks RDKLL) and am going to have it recovered.

I'd like to put a gel pad in it.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should use or how to do it?

Did the same thing to a Mustang seat years ago...  Had a custom saddle guy install a 1/2" thick , blue colored gel pad (he had the gel, so don't know the type/brand).

First comment - It was more comfortable  cooldude

Second comment - It got nut roasting hot, and held the heat for a long time, when left out in the sun  Shocked

Not so sure the comfort was better than the heat... Undecided

You would be better with  layers  of good foam and memory foam.

Have to check that out.

I have a Mustang I owned for 12 -13 years and I like the seat, just gets hard after an hour or so, either that or my butt gets soft.

Alaskan sheepskin has worked wonderfully for me. The ride to Daytona and back from metro Atlanta last March was a lot easier on the rear end. BTW, I have a Corbin, which I never had to wait to get hard, lol!

(As stated), gel (pad) retains heat.  Even your own body heat with time/distance, if not the sun. (Great for fall and winter, butt...summer?)

If it must be recovered for damage/wear, memory foam (or sheepskin) better ideas. 

Airhawk cushion a great idea.  It even made my Corbin concrete seat actually tolerable.  But won't fix damage/wear.

Mustang saddle +Alaskan sheepskin cover= RIDING BLISS.For me anyway,I just did 1k miles fri.and sat. and my butt was happy as a butt can be on bike Grin.
