Nice analysis, as always. However, the problem with your projection is that we haven't settled on an exact location. We are looking at 3 different locations. Willow was generalizing on mileages.
I figured as much, and honestly enjoy the puzzle more than the solution (Sad, I know)... I do know there are a lot of gorgeous areas within 500 miles of the convergence! My eldest spawn was in Boise a few months ago for a school thing and was taken by the beauty of the area, and that was just around the urban area, can't imagine how nice it'd be getting out into the country a bit. I'm sure wherever ya'll settle on, it'll be gorgeous with nice roads, some vocal minority will be grumpy about the location, some will be happy but unable to work out the logistics regardless and some will be happy and attend. That last group are the ones I'm envious of, and hope to become a member of.

I have a solution for all the Easterners such as myself....
All of the Multiple Valk owners that live within a day or 2 days ride of the location, pony up and rent out their idle Valks for a Fly n Drive program.....
Easterners hook up with one of the said owners.. pay a minimal fee ( we are all friends here right?!??) and fly out and ride to Inzane with those owners.... safety and fellowship built in!!!
This way all us Easterners get to save our precious asses from road rash and wasted time and the Valk owners get to show off ALL their toys- which is the main reason we own Valks- to show em off! You know how hard it is to leave a Valk at home all alone, Darn shame!
Alright Willow, since you have like 50 Valks, I volunteer you as the pilot project for this.... and co ordinator for the program.. I will just take the credit as the inventor and all the glory.... and do no work, just like a good CEO.
Let me know when you have found a nice ride for me.. I would prefer an Interstate... but Super Valked with an Ultimate seat..... As the creator of this plan I should get my Loaner at no charge.....
Am awaiting my chariot.....

From Harlingen, TX, it's 900 miles to Stratford, TX, so only 700 miles to go after we get out of the state (If you live in Harlingen)!
With the size of the states mentioned (except for Virginia) the distances quoted don't make identification a sure thing. With the exception of far northern Maine, the entire Continental US is within 1600 miles of the borders of Texas. Inzane could be in Canada and meet the 1600 mile distance.
So I'll just wait to hear where Inzane is.

Looks like no Inzane for me next year. What happened this year? Had a 3rd birthday party for our youngest, no vacation time left, and well you know, things. Early june is not a great time for me. I would like to make it out west to the rockies and bad lands and yellow stone. In 2 years from today I get a 3rd week of vacation so it will be much easier to do this stuff. 2 weeks with 2 little boys is not much time in a year. Of course I would be able to take it unpaid but who could afford that?

Willow's words were that for folks from Texas it would be "up to 1600 miles", so once I had an idea of the general direction of the convergence from the first 2 distances, I went with a south east part of Texas, being the furthest point from the north west part of the US. (California is also a very long state, so I went with a generally southern large population center with LA) But once again, I'm just having fun trying to piece the pieces of the puzzle together more than anything...

Personally I think it is awesome that Inzane moves west again. ... I see a lot of folk already saying "count me out" ... and I can understand that many from east of the mighty Mississippi will not make it, however it will be nice for the western folk to get an opportunity to attend Inzane without the hardship of traveling 1500 miles to get there, so I say support the ones that will be able to make it. ...
That's good perspective, Ice. We have held InZane thrice west of the Missippi, twice in Colorado and once in Spearfish, South Dakota. People from the west travel many miles to attend InZane in the east. This year we had a handful that rode about 2400 miles to InZane and our friends from Texas were some 1300 miles away. Next year's location will likely cause people from Virginia to require a 2,000 mile ride and the folks from Texas up to 1600 miles while only reducing our California friends to a little under a thousand miles. InZane XVII is going to be a good time in a great place. Hmm.... Moab it is ? That I would love!!!

Sure hope I can make it. Location, location, location............. Distance is the most important factor for most of us. There are certain places I won't go regardless of the event. But, if the location's distance is something I can do, I will. Greater distances require more time and money. Both are resources I do not have an abundance of but, we'll see what the decision is. I shall act accordingly.

The VRCC just made our day (myself and JoJo). 2017 is our 20 year anniversary and we were just talking about an "epic ride" next summer.
Have always wanted to do the west coast, so now Inzane 17 will be part of that epic ride.
Will now plan to trailer out to a central location out west (maybe Colorado) and park the truck and trailer for 3 weeks or so.... ride to Inzane 17 and after, spend 2+ weeks meandering.
Better start saving some $$$ for it.

So the date will be at end of month, backing up to 4th of July? We love to come where ever, but end of month may be a deal breaker. Usually it is mid month in June or July isn't it? This end of month is hard for a lot of us working folks.

We haven't done mid-July in several years; it's just too hot. There were other scheduling factors that precluded early and mid-June for this event. We love having you there, I hope the date isn't a deal-breaker.

The good news is that we have almost an entire year to plan around specific dates.
OK, the written word is usually difficult to interpret as it may have been intended. Please don't think I am being critical in what I'm about to say. I simply don't see how one can plan anything based on what is known. I smiled reading the quoted post above. Yep, I can plan on an event somewhere west of the Mississippi River in mid to late June next year (I think). Could be one day of travel or three (one way). Might be able to travel through numerous states I've wanted to visit or not, might cost this much for food, fuel and hotels along the route or not. I might even be able to visit certain people along the still unplanned route or meet up with other riders on that still unplanned route who are also in the dark about the city Ground Zero is located in or near. Based on what is known I need to plan how much vacation, how much money? Please don't take this as a personal attack, it is not meant that way. What I can plan is to have a good time with friends if, the location is somewhere I can get to and that's about all. Seriously, the general location (as in a specific city or near a specific city, national forest or site) should be announced as soon as possible (regardless of where it is). How is one to plan anything without knowing a general destination? Just my opinion, I know it doesn't count for squat. I realize the reasons for keeping the GZ hotel quiet until the right time.

My understanding is that the actual location is still not set. I am assuming that the ongoing negotiations involve more than one city and possibly more than one state. It is also my understanding that once a contract is signed that the Admin will announce City and State. The staff does a lot for this club and it is appreciated.

I see a lot of folk already saying "count me out" (and it reads a bit, not sure the right word, "threatening" maybe, as in, if we cant go you will lose attendance, so you need to keep it closer to the east). I may have inadvertently started the crap-storm by posting my regret that a western location takes us out of the running to attend next year. I did not mean that as a criticism of the decision to take it out west. I understand that Inzane cannot always be on the east coast. I would love to take a ride out west and someday I will. But right now neither of us can take the amount of time off from work that we would need to travel out west and back. Heck, we couldn't even get the entire week off for Morgantown.

Hey Rainmaker
Think Inzane will be in Harlingen? Is that what you meant? I should be able to make it! We can ride parallel to the border and dodge bullets, or maybe go to Mexico and get kidnapped! Great riding here, can see your next stop sign 5 miles away. Firefighter
