Glad to see some are still airworthy, I still get a chill when those big radials fire. Watched her make several flights out of Vandenberg out side of Tampa today.

Excellent Photo!  cooldude
I grew up in Memphis TN and saw the "Bell" go from an honored bit of our history to an almost destroyed memory from the past, back to a place of honor on Mud Island in down town Memphis.  The lack of volunteers to continue to take care of her led the Air Force to reclaim her and take her to the Air Force museum in Dayton Ohio. I understand she is undergoing a full reconditioning at this time.
Hmmmm, a ride to Dayton and the AF Museum, now that might be something to think about!

Hey Grumpy I knew it!!!!
Thanks for helping me win a bet with my neighbor cooldude We saw this monstrosity flying low and slow over my house, no mistaking the drone of them engines! He said it was a C-130. Nope, I flew on
C-130's and know the look and the sound. Thanks for posting!

The last time I heard those big radials was when a Constellation visited our air field.  The Connie, I believe, had 18 cylinder Pratt and Whitney engines.  The sound of those big radials still sends a chill down my spine.

Sorta like the sound of this engine and its whistle.  This is a Berkshire 2/8/4 built in Lima Ohio in 1943.  It hauled its share of high speed freight on the Nickle Plate Railroad during the war years, including superchargers built in Ft. Wayne  for the P-38.

765 is running again after a second overhaul and on display in my town, New Haven, In.

I live about 1 mile from Vandenberg, it flew over several times so I had to check it out. Will be there tomorrow also, besides any excuse to ride the Valk.
