Was on a test ride and the rear gave way and since that time I knew I was going to get different tires. Rode with the Dunlops a bit but still had worries and since the Michelins never looked back.

If we do not see any more post of yours after Sept , we'll know what happened

Good Luck

My Valk has now 29,000 mls on the clock, I love it and I don't see which other bike I could desire for the time being. This said, the Diavel is probably the most exciting bike I've ever ridden, though  the 2014 model I rode was limited to 106 HP. I intend to ride the X Diavel full power in september, I know it's gonna be a hell of a fun  crazy2

I rode the new Yamaha MT-10 two weeks ago, the bike is so fast I didn't practice my routine (maximum speed, crazy breaking, race start etc.) because I knew it would do far beyond my expectancies  crazy2
Two years riding peacefully the Valk : do I turn too soft, or wise, or old ?   Wink

So I decided to go for the Michelins and these worries are beyond.  Wink

Yep, it really transforms the bike from a decent handling bike to an outstanding handling bike! You can snap it quickly in any direction...amazing....oh and the lean angle...geezz...just throw her down there and carve that turn!

I had the Michelins put on today and I'll get to check them out on the road next weekend.  Hoping that things are good!  cooldude

I must be riding it wrong.  I got 48 mpg on the first tankful.

Took it yesterday for our first little 2-up ride, and it just didn't care that there was another whole body on it. Even my old VTX1800 at least gave you a hint that it knew it was carrying more weight, but not the Valkyrie. It's just an epic torque monster.

Try running it with some kind of ethanol treatment product in the tank, or better yet, gas without ethanol.  It's gets quicker yet!

She also loves temps in the 70s, and below for max power.  RPMs near redline produce killer power...you gotta get her up over 5K...watch out!

So I wound it all the way up to 4k rpm just once today, and ooh what a sweet noise. I usually barely hit 3k, as it's still under 600 miles, and to be honest I'm not quite comfortable enough on it yet to loosen the reins and slap it on the ass. But man that howl is a thing to behold.

This engine is just amazing. And it's only two valves per cylinder and tuned for as wide and flat of a torque curve as possible. While I was at the dealer today looking at a Hayabusa and thinking about the insane hp they crank out of a 1300cc online 4, I could only wonder what could be done to the 1832 flat 6 with 4-valve heads and a more aggressive cam going for max HP and torque. Not that I'd want to do it myself, as it probably wouldn't be as enjoyable to ride in real-world use, but it sure would be interesting to see what kind of numbers somebody squeeze out of it if they really tried.

I'd often thought the same thing.  The bike and it's engine produces plenty of power...but it could have produced FAR more.  Easily 200hp...  I think, but then it wouldn't get the same fuel mileage, nor would it last as long.  This engine can EASILY go 200K...

I regularly get 45+ so you're right on target.

Dunlop OEM : on wet roads, at any speed, even at the red light, you feel joyfull and begin a soft conversation with the throttle (you are educated and polite, you have gentle manners not brutal ones). Then the rear begins to slip = end of the conversation. That's what I experienced with the CTX 1300 (Dunlop) and with the Valk (tires were new). On the highway and under the rain, above 80 mph I felt insecure and I saw a guy with a R1200 RT who was 20 mls faster. So I decided to go for the Michelins and these worries are beyond.  Wink
I have to agree with you!
